As per the title really.

My laptops become unstable and general a PITA lately on Vista, so I bought a removable hard drive, cleared the lot and a friend is going to install windows 7 on it for me later.

So, I am going to need new anti-virus software, I used AVG before, but purely because there was free premium upgrade codes kicking about at the time.

Which would you reccommend and why?

Also, any other 'must haves ' for windows 7? CCleaner etc?

Cheers in advance for any advice!

I put Microsoft Security Essentials on my niece's new Windows 7 laptop a few months ago and it seems to be coping with the typical "click on everything" abuse kids throw at it.

Microsoft Security Essentials is actually pretty good.

I have ccleaner and a shit ton of programs on mine now.

Protection wise though, it is just MSE and SuperAntiSpyware for when I am really fucked.

I use AVG (free) and MalwareBytes (paid for).

Ccleaner & Defraggler for the occasional tidyup.

and for specific windows 7 tools.. err.. a few custom gadgets for weather/tool bars but nothing really specific other than that
