Arashi helmets

hi,
i hope to be biking very soon, with my cbt tomorrow hopefully i will be getting a cg125 soon as a very cheap mode of transport.

i need all the gear and have been looking on ebay and have come across these helmets for £17+Postage, i am a bit wary of buying a helmet so cheap, has anyone had any experiences with these? and reviews?

also does anyone know where i can buy biking gear for quite cheap?

have you thought about a textile jacket? may be the better option if you're on a budget,

Cheap gear. Try Aldi/Lidl.

Or any bike shop that often has special offers to clear old stock

i will try out aldi/lidl.

at the minute i am stuck in the house, no biking shops for miles around, and my car insurance has just expired, so trying on helmets is a bit of a problem at the minute. for £17 i cant go wrong. as soon as i can im going to a bike shop to try on some helmets and see what i prefer.

ive found some decent looking jackets for aroun £50 so i think one of those will do.

Luckily it's a perfect fit, and a pretty decent lid too, and only cost ~£35 if I remember right.

I'd try the same site for jackets if I were you.

Luckily for me I've got an armoured TT Leather Jacket that was a hand-me-down from my dad who only ever used to wear it to Iron Maiden concerts

Don't take this as a pop at you in general but just curious why everyone seems to have a thing for getting the cheapest of everything on the market??
I appreciate things are tight for lots of people nowadays but don't forget this stuff needs to do the job of ossibly saving you in the event of an off or accident, boggles me that you are happy to spend 4x price of helmet for jeans, 3x price for a fashion/motorbike jacket??
If you have an acident and they turn up with a wheel barrow instead of an ambulance because it saved money wouldn't be a good thing i'm sure!! Hope your happy with it all, but in my opinion would be best trying to save few more quid and upgrade the lot.

i am looking for good gear mate, the helmet is only so i can can get mobile soon as i am very bored stuck in the house. i will get a better helmet as soon as i can afford it.
a lot of people have very little money like me, im a student and i earn about £350 a month so obviously money is very tight, trust me if i could afford it i would go out and buy the best of everything but there is now way that i can do that, i am sure this is the same for a lot of people.

Fully agree, thats why wasn't havin a pop but just stessing re. lid get the best you can stretch your money to, fingers crossed never required but if needed want the best ya can get, and understand the wanting to get out and mobile.

i did get one mate, i cant compare it to anything as its the only helmet ive had.

i find it comfy enough, longest i have gone with it on was about an hour and i found it easily comfy enough for this.

i have not had to test it out yet thankfully! but it gets 4* sharp ratings so it cant be bad.

it is quite loud but as i said i cant actually compare loudness to other helmets but at 50+ it is a bit noisy.

sometimes the visor comes up if i turn my head too quickly.

for the price its great but im sure there are much better and more comfy helmets out there.

i bought on of these as a budget helmet to start with, and yeah they are loud. I had the same problem with the visor flipping up - can be quite distracting / dangerous. IIRC they are also quite heavy.

As soon as you can afford to i'd upgrade

Strange, I have no visor flipping issues with mine even riding with it open a click or 2... then again I rarely get the CG above 60.
