Leathers question

Looking to buy a 1-piece or ideally a 2-piece set. Only thing is, I'm a waist of 30/32, not sure whether to get leathers in a small or medium? Found a lovely set on eBay, but dont wanna buy anything too big/small. My Alpinestars jacket now is a US(42)/EUR(52) and doesnt feel overly big, and thats a large! Judging by the feel of the jacket, a medium should fit fine shouldn't it?

You really need to try on leathers before you buy them, if they don't fit very well they are considerably less effective.

and size varies a lot between companies even if both leathers say size "32" for example, they may well be very different

My Dainese jeans are size 46 Euro, I am a size 30 waist for jeans.

It's best to get something that zips into the jacket, unfortunately that probably means your choice will be limited to AS.

If you have a Hein Gericke nearby they tend to have a good selection and its good quality for a good price

Definetely try them on first. Even if it means going into a shop to try the same ones on then going 'hmm I'll have to think about it.' Then just buy ones off ebay that fit. I was suprised after wearing my new leathers and going back to my old ones. The old ones felt way too big. I spent a good 45 mins in the Hein Gerricke trying on different sizes till I got it absolutely right. The better the fit the more effective they'll be if you fall off.

FYI Ride mag has articles this month on clothing, including how to get the size / fit right on a one-piece. May be worth getting it for a read, or borrowing a copy from someone who did

Definately try on as many different makes and suits as you can. They're all different shapes and sizes.

Make note of the ones that are comfortable and that fit well, that way you'll know what to look for on e-bay.

the leathers on eBay are from an eBay shop, who have started that if the leathers I buy are too small or too big, they will happily exhange for the next size up/down, whatever I require, which is always a bonus! But yeah, I do need to go and try some on first. Need boots too!

I'll say it again but slightly differently this time.

If you intend on buying leather jeans to go with your Alpinestars jacket you will probably need to buy A* jeans as manufacturers tend to try and be unhelpful by not making the zips match up with another brand.

If you accept that a 1pce isn't as practical as a 2pce, that's not only from a comfort and fit point it's also like lugging a body around at work, then you need to try one on.

TC was also saying about the safety benefits of a 2pce over a 1pce too.

www.busters-online.co.uk usually have good prices on Prexport 1pce suits and they get decent reviews.

Ask MR C about some made to measures too.

I always have such trouble buying my kit. I usually get blokes small stuff cos womens gear assumes skinny women to have short arms and legs.....wrong! I always look a lot bigger on my bike than I actually am, because of ill-fitting kit.

heingerrickes are good, as ride pointed out, but i got the hgr suit which won a ride recommended last year, but it scored 1 in the abbrassion test...!!!!! i hhope that was a duff suit!
