Anyone do it?

I used to do it using Maya PLE but could never get it to work properly because I was using a crappy laptop. I never made anything of any use either because I couldn't get the software working it made things really difficult.

3DS Max is supposed to be good as well, haven't tried that though.

I don't do it personally but I have a friend who used to do it in college. He stopped modelling and started www.fallingpixel.com which is doing pretty well though, he's always linking me to crazy models that people have made and he gets quite annoyed when people go to his site to buy something thinking it's a real thing. He sold 3 sets of BBQ tongs at the start of summer and had to refund them all as people thought they were real things! Laughing

Why would people want to buy a sound effect?
People buy models for the same reason, to use in movies, games, graphics etc If you need a picture of a bright pink ferrari its easier and cheaper to buy a model and texture it, then go find a ferrari, hire or buy one and try to make it look pink Razz

Softimage is good so is Maya, but they are mostly for animation. Solidworks is good for CAD stuff.

I just thought people made the models themselves if they needed something.
I would be way too cheap to buy something i could make in a few hours myself lol

My partner uses Blender, she is more a MyPaint kinda person though, prefers more 'arty' software.

I can't install any torrent downloading thingys on my laptop so that's out.

I used to do modelling and animation a few years ago, not done any for about 6 years now, I used Cinema 4D XL, I just much preferred the interface to anything else and the render engine is by far the fastest. 3DS Max is overcomplicated and the rendering times take the piss, looks no better than C4D either.
