 |
|
When I got my DRZ it already had 2 plugs in the back wheel, today I noticied the back end was a bit wobbly when I was on my way home and upon further inspection I found a massive screw stuck in the tyre Was just going to get it plugged at a local shop but the MOT is due soon so just how many plugs am I legally allowed to have? Should I just buy a new tyre? ____________________ KTM 990 SMT & Suzuki DR-Z 400 SM |

Well, I'm not sure about these sort of tyres so you tell me?

Got no idea how much they cost new either
Checked and my MOT isn't due until a month from today. Was also going to apply rim tape (red) while I'm fiddling about. Oh, and I want to raise the height of the back as well, it's so frigging low. ____________________ KTM 990 SMT & Suzuki DR-Z 400 SM |

Get a cheapo tyre repair kit but don't use it. Just in case, keep it.
Keep riding for one month and change the tyre before the MOT as it looks like it is almost worn out. ____________________ Boris - London |

Cheers lads A new tyre it is then, gonna be next week before I have time off work to look into it though. Unless they're cheaper online? To be honest I've never owned a bike long enough to have to buy a new tyre
What repair kit would you recommend? I tried searching egay but barely anything came up. ____________________ KTM 990 SMT & Suzuki DR-Z 400 SM |

If you do some touring search for "MOTORCYCLE PUNCTURE REPAIR & AIR KIT MOTORBIKE TUBELESS" on egay. (this is the one hein gericke sells)
If you don't, search for "tubeless puncture repair kit" on egay again. Then get the cheapest one.
Alternatively you can buy a roadside cover for 19 quid a year.

I had tubes with tubeless tyres on my drz, it meant if I went off road on my road bike it was cheaper to fix (said the previous owner)

140 seems quite small? mine was a 160 with an inch of clearance still.

Got it sorted today. Definitely 140. Ended up getting a new inner tube, balanced, fitted etc for £100. Not sure if that's good or not . It's a Pirelli Sport Demon or something like that. Basically, the back tyre from a Yamaha DTX 125... ____________________ KTM 990 SMT & Suzuki DR-Z 400 SM |
