As do the people that go slow, so you overtake them at which point they are up your arse revving their engine so you move...

That's recently happened to me twice / on two separate occasions, on the same road.... (beware the Culverhouse Cross-Wenvoe-Barry road to anyone who's in Cardiff area)

At one point, one of them was so close behind me that it looked as if my top box was resting on his bonnet .... so I waited for a clear way ahead, dropped a gear and left him well behind - not my kind of riding normally but I took advantage of the extra performance of my bike over that chav chariot Thumbs Up

I also hate this.

I went for a ride with some people on Sunday, and we hit some twisty roads, me and a guy on an 1198 were leaving everyone behind on the twisties, but this one guy that was out with us, kept coming past me at traffic lights, and then trying to not let me past down the twisty roads, bloody idiot. Every time we stop, he would go to the front of the group, then hold me and the guy on the Duc up, for no reason.

I get this all the time, I filter at my normal speed. Come up behind someone who was obviously going slower than me (or else I wouldnt have caught up!) so 1 of 2 things happen. They either go hell for leather and take every chance going to get away or I go past and its such an insult they have to take every chance to keep up. The point being that I ride at MY pace the whole time. Too much pride some people Rolling Eyes

Had this on the way to Brecon at the weekend. A guy on a blue something-or-other, possibly a VFR, got past me in Hereford and then proceeded to do some silly looking overtakes in and out of a line of traffic as we got up to NSL. I waited for a straight but, zoomed past all of them and then found myself stuck behind him at 55.

Stopped for a fag and a much needed slash, caught him up in about 15 minutes and didnt hang about the next time Rolling Eyes

It's easier to follow someone than it is to lead, especially when filtering, in many cases I think this factor has a lot to do with things.

I've caught people quickly, and passed them, only to find them easily keeping up, and vice versa.

Best bet is to catch someone, then hang back, following for a bit, deciding whether the speed is ok. If you're convinced you can go faster in front, apply pressure, if not, keep your distance.

I just let 'em go... if they are slower than me overtake them then keep going at the pace I want...but sometimes push the monkey boys to go faster to see if there are any cameras or speed traps ahead Wink

I hate it when cars overtake you on a straight, normally some nob in a merc, then they go so bloody slowly round the corners. In a NSL i normally keep it between 60-80 depending on my mood, which seems to bait some drivers into overtaking you at 100+, then their hard on the brakes slowing down to 40-50 for every tiny corner. You think about overtaking, but on the next bit of straight rode you find the car is going 80 again and it might cost you your life or license to get past.

I've had this happen a few times lately and been very tempted to sneak a pass up the inside, but then i remember i'm not playing GTA Crying or Very sad

And chavs on mopeds get in the way too!

I usually get cars sit up my arse after I've overtaken them too. They see I'm a chick on a bike and don't like me being faster Smile

To be fair, had a 2007+ VFR blocking me going through traffic as he couldn't get past to cars as he had luggage attached - was on a 125 Laughing then when i met behind him at a set of traffic lights on red he was reving his engine because i guess he thought I was a 600 and felt stupid for not being able to get between two cars, then a van pulled up to the right lane and he thought that meant it was green whizzed straight through a red hitting about 60mph.. bad luck for him as they had one of those cameras to see who runs red lights and that made a big flash, dont think he noticed but liked how it checked his mirrors to see if i was behind him Laughing

What, like she might then go slower than the car driver can go once she's overtaken, thereby enraging the driver as in the 1st post...?

If I've given someone the chance to overtake (one would presume through not riding as fast as them); then fair play to them.

It can be irksome catching up to them filtering in traffic, but generally just means you have a chance to put your creative filtering skills to use. Similarly around a corner; well you get a chance to get them going out of the corner (or around it/going in if you're not worried about upsetting them a bit more.)

Probably because you'll have crashed too, on all the smashed keyboards bits on the ground Wink.

Ahem, yes. Ok I was on a bike, but almost crashed in Italy trying to get a picture of the behind of a lady filtering enthusiastically on a scooter - trying to keep up on a 1 metre wide badly loaded 690 while taking a picture with one hand wasn't the greatest idea, perhaps.

Mr. Green .

On a serious note though if you are out with a group you know and someone is acting like a knob why wouldn't you say something?

Either they are a mate and they will understand they were being a tit or they aren't a mate so who cares if you offend them. I'm not exactly a fast rider but it would annoy the hell out of me if someone was sneaking past then intentionally holding me up.

After watching someone nearly put his bike into a hedge on a group ride out I told him to slow down and not to try and keep up. He seemed to listen Thumbs Up
