Brand spanking new tyres...

I got my new front tyre fitted today, all very nice etc.

But I notice that on all new tyres there are two coloured lines that run through the whole circumference of the tyre. Why are they there? It's a bit of a random question, I was just having a think about it. Smile

I pretty sure there quality control marks, to say its passed the relevent inspections etc.

Word of advice on new tyres, take it easy for a few hundred miles Wink

I always thought they were a kind of wear marker...once they are gone, your tyre is scrubbed in kind of thing, which would explain why there is usually one in the middle and one off to one side.

Of course, I could be completley wrong.

@ CraigZZR: - I found that out earlier, I was going round a sharp corner and I leaned further than I have done before, I almost lost the front of the bike, gave me a right shock, I have virtually no grip right now! Razz

Although I didn't notice much difference when the rear tyre was replaced just a lot more flexability at the back end. Of course these tyres are better than having no tread at all Wink

I won't fall off as much in the rain Razz

They are so tyre makers/shops can tell the tyres apart when there are hundreds of them on racks and the sides can't be seen.
