Hi everyone,

Still waiting on parts to finish my engine rebuild and get back on the road. Its been two months now Evil or Very Mad but while i cant ride I want to try and keep learning stuff to improve my riding, kinda worried about being really out of practise.

I found the films on safferrider.org very helpful and was wondering if anyone could recommend any others to watch?

Cheers,
Dan

To be honest, the majority of riding instruction is only useful if you can actually DO it to practice and it's this practice that is more important that knowing it - as you can usually learn the theory of the skills a lot quicker than the practical.

Yeah I know, I just want to put some time into learning things while i cant go and ride rather than forgetting it for two months! I find some videos really really help, you can visualise it with the video and also the instructors voice over the top really sticks sometimes as well,

Ill check out the keith code vid as well, cheers Thumbs Up

The keith code video is....alrite. You have to get past the god awful lame acting firstly, but a lot of it assumes you know a lot of already, doesn't really explain much of the terms used, and is more suited for the race track rather than street riding (ok you can apply it, but it is not described in the same manner). I think you'd be better off reading the book "Twist of the Wrist 2" as it explains the basics a little better, although it is written in a very perculiar manner, in that they will put an asterix next to a word to tell you that it's explained in the glossary....but the words they put in the glossary are stupid, like "Exciting", "Overwhelmed", "Excessive" etc etc, whereas they leave terms like "Chop the throttle", "Shift up", "Crank it over", "After the apex" and other slang terms completely unexplained... must be a yank thing.

Anyway, with a combination of the book and video I feel my cornering has improved a bit, but I'd be interested to know what else is out there that isn't written/acted by gimps.

I've got this DVD https://www.mikewaite.co.uk/

It's quite good, especially the "Upping the Pace" section

BUT there's no substitute for a real course Thumbs Up
