Don't worry... we still need nuclear power for cloudy days. |

Hi
Reading the comments at the bottom it seems that the study included subsidies on both, while counting the cost of decommissioning the nuclear plants as an extra (when a fee for that is already paid). The solar industry is heavily subsidised.
Also unsure as to whether they included the costs of disposing of solar panels at the end of their life.
All the best

The nuclear industry in the US is very tiny and very very safety conscious, making things relatively more expensive. The US also has much better sunlight than we will ever get in europe.
I disagree with those trend lines, the fact that 1 is the pure inverse of the other suggests its just a guess on their behalf. Nuclear is going up in price, as is everything else. Solar is coming down in price as it's only recently been invested in seriously, but that trend will level off fairly soon as the physical limits are reached. The graph trend line shown in that article suggests solar power will soon be at zero, followed by negative cost
Solar is alright but isn't very consistent and doesn't work well over large distances requiring substations everywhere, the construction and maintenance of which are probably not being taken into account.

Who funded the report?
Reports like this are nearly always funded by people who have a vested interest in a particular aspect of the subject.
If this was funded by www.solar-panels-r-us.com then I would be highly suspicious of the findings!
Just because it's come out of a university doesn't make it unbiased and objective. ____________________ 25/7 I'm a God-damn Rock Star
