As some of you may be aware I quit the UK 4 years for the sunny shores of Cyprus.
In that time I’ve seen, and I mean actually witnessed, more accidents than I had in the previous 40+ in the UK.
During the last five commutes I have seen:-
Car smash involving a telegraph pole, (snapped in half), the engine was a good 3 meters away.
A 7.5 tonne truck overturned in the ditch at the side of the road.
A three car pileup on a motorway slip road
My car got scraped in the car park while I was in the supermarket, (this is a regular occurrence).
Bloke on large cruiser, with toddler sitting on tank both wearing shorts, t-shirt, flip flops no helmet.
Bloke on ZX10 with toddler sitting on tank both wearing shorts, t-shirt, flip flops no helmet.
Managed to avoid a head on with a twincab who obviously thought there was a right turn filter lane, there wasn’t it was the other side of the road.
I also had a slight altercation with an MX5 last night!
I have missed out the usual jumping of red lights, near misses on pelican crossings, undertaking on the hard shoulder at three figure speeds, and my particular favourite, suddenly realising you‘ve wandered into the opposite lane whilst texting, and nearly rolling it as you over compensate to avoid the oncoming traffic!
Anyway a pretty average week over here, the driving here is truly appalling.
So what’s your week been like? |

I've been to Cyprus loads of times, the Larnaca area. Haven't seen any crashes although I have seen idiots who rent quad bikes/scooters nearly bin them loads of times. Especially the old turn too quick on the quad bike and roll it.
Lots of nice bikes and cars. In all the holidays I've been there I've seen one guy in proper gear, about 3 with helmets on and the rest are helmet less in vests etc. Although the temperature does hit 40 so can't blame them too much. ____________________ MKGaming.com

when ive been over there ive never seen any accidents, Ive had fun riding over there i hired out a 100cc scooter from patoras and rode it all the way to larnaca and back, I thoult it was great fun to ride over there as the roads are prity dead until you get to a main town and its like a test you have to be alert all the time as no one realy is bothered about right away ect so it does put you skills to the test,
I got stoped by the police as they had there speed check point and i was going to fast, didnt know what they were talking about untill they showed me the speed gun and the road sighn. They let me on my way so wasnt that bothered but i didnt think the scooter i was had a acurate speedo lol
the good thing is you can park up where you like as no one realy cares but i dont think its legal.?
I cant wait to get out there again as its the best place ive ridden as you can get to some great places that you cant realy get to in a car very easily.
one road i didnt realy like was the main road in limmisol as that was busy and the fisrt time i had ever riden over there. ____________________ Xj 900 |

i spent quite a bit of time in the islands around Thailand,
i reckon i saw at least 3 accidents a day, mostly british/european tourists thinking because everyone can ride a scooter... so can they.... some funny crashes, quite often into parked cars ____________________ the humans are dead
