So it’s pay day and I’m going to buy a couple of games.
Just so you know recently I’ve played: Red dead, Assassins creed 2, Battlefield, Batman and Forza.
I want a couple of new games so what do you recommend??

I had Alan Wake in mind as i know a lot of time and effort has gone into the game. Anyone else had a pop at it?
Also, what’s Halo like these days? The last Halo i played was the one where you could play as the alien as well...what would i need to bring me up to speed? Is it any good?
Black Op’s, i remember a thread where people said it was shite but it isn’t out yet. So whats the deal?

I’m interested in anything really as long as it’s good.
I don’t like sports and i don’t like daft games like ‘Blur’. Thumbs Up

I had Alan wake a few weeks back, its quite good if you enjoy the silent hill type games. Visually pretty impressive, story line is a little bit on the naff side though and it does get a bit repetitive after a while. However theres a few moments where i think "thats quite cool". It's not as twisted as silent hill and is pretty short i clocked it in a few nights. Worth a play i believe its dropped down in price quite a bit now you can pick it up for under 20quid.

Halo games are as good as ever (in my opinion, I'm sure some people will say that aliens and pew-pew lasers are rubbish)

There's been Halo 3 and Halo 3:ODST out on the 360.

Personally I'd wait until September and buy Halo: Reach which is the brand new one. Very Happy Looks awesome.

Well, you should have these already but Modern Warfare 2 and Fallout 3 are about the most fun I've had with a 360. Mass Effect 1 & 2 are excellent if you like RPGs, the combat is kind of Gears of War esque, much more refined in the second game, but both have an awesome story with some of the best characters I've seen.

Halo 3 was a let down and ODST was "alright"

I hope Reach will be different, but I can imagine getting annoyed, what with the fact that they have better technology than (which is before Halo 1) they do in the other Halo's... Rolling Eyes

That makes sence though, if you know the back story.

Spartans where trained at reach There was about 100% they had all the best Training armour and technology then it was destroyed it would make sence that the advanced weapons where there and destroyed when reach was.

I always thought that was boring as arseholes.

My vote goes for Oblivion, but the game will eat days.

Just Cause 2? Thought the first one was pretty pants, looked amazing & had a lot of potential but that's as far as it went, Just Cause 2 however looks like it's improved the game in every way, looks stunning.

Look it up, has great reviews.

You're wrong about crackdown, but you're right about oblivion.

Hows about something on arcade? Trials HD is a massive time sapper, as is puzzle quest

Actually if you read the books you'd know that master chief gets the newest most advanced armor just before leaving reach [/superior geek mode]

Just cause 2 is great fun to pick up for half an hour and blow random shit up when you're bored but if you intend to do the 'story' then it gets incredibly boring and tedious very quickly.

halo odst would be a waste of £££,
its like a filler between halo 3 and reach.

left for dead 1/2 is good for some zombie mayhem

crack down 2 is practically the same game as crack down 1..... but worse!!, game becomes repetitive very quickly.

fall out 3 and mw2 offer hours of entertainment.
black ops isn't out, and i personally haven't heard from any one that it's "going to be shit".
but infantryward fell out with them so wont be making it.

Alan awake is enjoyable
gears of war is a good series, and the 3rd looks real good

kane and lynch 2 should be out by now Confused ?

assassins creed 2 is good,
3 looks even better

splintercell conviction just isn't splintercell any more
wasn't a fan of the latest one Thumbs Down

So a bit like GTA:IV then? Razz

I also hear Just Cause 2 has re-spawning enemy's, that is one of my biggest hates in games.

Cannot wait for Dead Rising 2 & the new Fallout.

Must admit right now there seems to be nothing i’d really like to play through that i haven’t already.
Crackdown has never interested me, it looks to be aimed at a younger audience and with Just Cause 2 i never got on with the game play. It always seemed half assed and the game sometimes got you into the shit because it felt like it, i couldn’t play that much.

Does Mass Effect 1 look dated now? I heard the gameplay was a bit shody, i think after playing some recent games i wouldn't get on with it.

I’ve been playing it online for sometime now and remembered i hadn’t played it through on one player. I completed over the weekend and it was pretty good, although short i did enjoy the action and the weapons and game play feel solid. There were quite a few references to how much better BF2 is to MW2 and some references to certain war/actions films. I liked it Thumbs Up

So I grabbed a few games from Amazon...i went for a collection of Dark shooters in the end, i wasn’t really going for that though.
I bought Metro 2033, Dead Space and Condemned 2.

Metro’s a bit of an odd one, at first it was a little frustrating as it doesn’t following the usual COD control layout but I persevered with it and cracked it around level 3.
The graphics are spot on most of the time, some of the AI characters were a little clunky when it gets hecktic but the game makes up for it in atmosphere and lighting effects. What i was surprised to find out at the end of the game was that there was an option of two endings, good and bad. The game never mentions that there are some moral choices you can make in the game that can determine how the game ends so i was a bit annoyed about that in the end because i wasn’t actively looking for them. The weapons are all cold war based and really make you feel vulnerable at times because of the lack of ammunition. There were some great moments in the game, the story is solid and keeps you hooked once you get going, it’s quite refreshing to have a game that takes itself very seriously with no slapstick or daft characters.
Took me about 6-7 hours to complete, i wasn’t hanging about but i can see now there was a lot more to unlock and see throughout the game.

Dead space is fun, heart pumping stuff at times it’s really got me hooked. I haven’t’ completed it so i can’t give a decent overall opinion but right now i’m fighting a boss which i had to switch off at some point because I felt like I was going to pass out from tiredness and fear. LOL. I love horror type games and this one really lives up to the hype. I had played through some of it when it came out at my mates house and it’s taken me a while to get back to it.
I like the weapons and controls and the fact there isn’t a HUD on the screen, it’s all integrated in the scenery.

Quickly stuck on Condemned 2 last night, lol, what bleak game!

Completed it on the Pc and then recently bought it for the box, epic game I love it and a good 80's movie esque single player with great sounds and destructive environments.

Get it

Online is good as well, but make sure you buy the game new with the VIP code so you get all the map packs for free.
