|
I live in Japan but does anyone know any good online British food site?
I was once suggested this site by a Japanese,
https://www.britishfooddirect.com/
but Shipping price to Japan was £43.00 upto 5kg. I don't need 5kg that much and it's too expensive!
shipping price
I need to eat McCoy's crisp and Christmas pudding.
Japanese Crisp sucks.
Fortnum & Mason site was great but it didn't ship to Japan.
https://www.fortnumandmason.com/Puddings-Butters,1235.aspx
Cheers
If any of you are interested in Japanese cookie or some food shippable, pls let me know. I send what you want and you send me McCoy's and Chistmas pudding without any money transaction. ____________________ own:2020 Serow 250

You send me some Japanese food and i'll send you some British food, why you would want that I don't know, but then I suppose you would think the same. In fact, what exactly would I want from Japan, no idea, feel free to send a small Japanese woman if there's any space in the box |

I have bought some of the boil in bag type foods and they are what I am taking to Norway. Not tried them yet, but the review I read they said they'd be happy to serve them at home. Shall let you know when I come back from Norway

I'm thinking of sending this type of cookie if there is no special request. I presented this to Paivi san and she liked it.

P.S. today I received "Sorry No" response from https://www.goodwoods.com/ .
There is a crisp "slightly" similar to Mccoy's but something is different.

Do you not have anything wierd, you know like octopus flavoured crisps or blowfish jerky I'm really not sure how much it'd cost to send a box of stuff to Japan will investigate, if food is all sealed and packed, no fresh stuff (which would obviously perish in the mail) or anything unsealed then I believe customs shouldn't touch it.
If you seriously want stuff PM me, although Marki and Pat both seem willing too so you'll have a flat full of McCoys soon.
Not too expensive really, Christmas pudding puts the weight up though
500g £6.87
1kg £12.37
2kg £23.37 |

Things i missed when in asia:
Yorkshire pudding & gravy. Wasn't too fussed about the rest of the sunday lunch, but its my favourite bit!
Malteasers. Especially when stoned.
Bacon sandwich. How have these not propagated to asia?! Oh yeah, asians don't tend to eat fatty food
Fresh baked bread. Again, not big in asia.
Lasagna.
Toffee.
Chocolate hobnobs
oh yes i almost forgot to add:

I take it there are no restrictions on the import of food into Japan? |
Thanks Marki,
I checked about restriction.
Restricted items for import from UK were below (I picked food relatives only)
-Animals
-Meat
-Dairy products
-Egg
-Vegetable
-Bee
-Fish
-Crustacean
-Plant life
-Fruit (below 2kg of certain sort of fruit is ok)
-Vegetable (below 2kg of certain sort of vegetable is ok)
-Perishable food
So it seems to be ok.
I hope food like cookie is alright in U.K. too.
----
Does anyone know if I send a can of cookie to uk as a "gift", is any custom duties imposed on my cookie?
Now I'm a little bit worrying about custom duties your side must pay. ____________________ own:2020 Serow 250

EMS shipping cost from Japan to UK were
500g 1800yen
1kg 2800yen
2kg 4600yen
So it seems to be nearly the same. I understand the shipping cost is high. So if you don't like item I send, there isn't any merit for you.

Soon as the puds come into the shops i'll post a couple over.
I like the co-ops puds....Bit of brandy. Bobs yer uncle.
I won't however, be sending any of my Nans. I'd kill for her Christmas Puddings. ____________________ Diabolical homemade music Bandcamp and Soundcloud

Ahhh, I was only just thinking about you and your Christmas puddings a week ago, Kawashima.
I wondered if you ever got your them ... now I know
I've seen those "cookie" cigar things, they have them in Marks and Spencers premium boxes of biscuits, yummmmmm, like very delicious fine shortbread, rolled in a stick. ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

They're called twills, but they are nicer from japan, something to do with the flour or agent they use.

My brother-in-law is currently teaching a bit south of Hiroshima. His parents are going over to see him in October. If you can give us an address, we could get them to import stuff, and then get the brother-in-law to post from inside Japan? Assume that would be cheaper?
pm me, and I'll see if I can get it sorted.

That's kind of funny, I get my wife's parents to put Japanese chips in the boxes of food they send. I love them, it's the MSG I think. ____________________ "There's the horizon! Ride hard, ride fast and cut down all who stand in your way!" |
