I'm wanting to get rid of the R6. having a short attention span, i want something a bit newer.
choice so far is between the following:
2003-2005 R6 (5SL)
i like the look of it, i've ridden one and liked it a fair bit.
not very equipped though. RWU forks etc.
£2000-2700
ZX6R B1h
apparantly pretty fragile when crashed from what ive seen around here at low speeds. never ridden one.
usd forks, generally tidy looking throughout
£2000-2500
so pretty much the same age and price, but im thinking the B1h might be a bit more bang for my money.
anyone able to give me any 1st hand comparason between the 2?
before i get a load of shit about ''optimistic prices'', its what i can get hold of a decent condition low milage FSH example for after asking around for a few weeks.
ill hopefully get about 1500 for my R6, so thats most of it there, so ill be looking to sort this out in about a month or so.

the 03 and 05 r6 are different models mate.
.03-04 had RWU forks
.05 had USD forks (radails etc)
the bh1 is better spec'd for the price imo,
and has the 37cc trump card engine wise
there is a good few b1h's for under £3000 on auto trader now,
were as the 03 r6s are starting at £3000,
(take in to account the lower spec),
and the 05 models start at 3500/3600+ if your lucky 
if your willing to pay £3000though there are a few c1h floating about as well,
(more power, plusher suspenders, slipper clutch, petal disk etc)
if you can live with the roundy looks
also you maybe be "optimistic" with the new bikes prices,
but your not with your current bikes.
going of of recent used value (depending on condition of course) your r6 could sell for more then £1500

even on ebay now theres a b1h with fsh for 2300, and i can get a slightly tatty r6 5sl for 2k from a friend of mine.
my r6 currently is a bit of a shitter, but when i come to sell it it'll be much much better.
its got a steering damper, gear indicator and a set of carbon fibre fairings on it, but a yellow tank and undertray. i can either put the laguna seca rep fairings back on (as per avatar) or get the remaining yellow painted black.
i think asking more than 1500 would be a bit optimistic, but i wont take less.
i was sort of thinking the b1h might be a bit better to buy, but the fragile thing is the main turnoff. ive seen a couple of cases of people coming off at like 10mph and disintegrating the front end.
also... the extra cc on the b1h also means upping a tax class.

is this your road bike or your track bike? you seem to be a bit concerned with dropping/crashing it 
as yfor your r6... mate, there are damaged ones on mcn,bike trader, piston heads, gum tree etc that sell for more then £1500, your not being optimistic at all.
the more you can get for it the less you have to put on top for the next bike

put it this way. i havnt exactly stayed upright so far. only 1 limb isnt full of metal.
basically cosmetics i dont really care about. if im worrying about scratching then ill be riding like a fag.
if i get over 1500 then ill be pleased with that. ive also got a load of spares i could sell to make up the rest.

its not common they sell for that low.
and are you sure your mates bikes a 05 model not a 05 plate?

cheapest r6 on mcn for example is £2100, its a competitive market, price it competitively and there should be no reason it wont sell

well, a dent in the tank wouldnt phase me. put it that way.
my mates is a 5SL, an 04 but on a private plate with r6 in there somewhere. its got RWU forks.
hopefully you're right about the R6 selling price though. that would basically be swapping an old r6 for a newer model one.
yeah its pretty much got to be a 600. ill never be able to out handle it so why go bigger. i think the biggest ill ever go in sports bikes is maybe a 750 but thats about it.

the b1's haver come down in price quite a bit so its a good time to upgrade.
like you said you get more bang for your buck with the kwack so unless the r6 is cheaper it cant really trump the ninja.
in regards to it having to be a 600,
i ask beacuse rsv milles are with in your price range
(and other older thous).
bhp wise they are more 750 territory then (latest) thou

I've been thinking this recently.
Having ridden an 05 yam and a 03 (the one before the underseat can) kwak 636 is the nicer of the two, but I found the riding position a bit awkward, as my shoulders seemed to be ill fitting. I'm 6'1, so about average. The R6's power delivery was mainly all top end, which I guess would be good for track, but I felt a bit silly having to rev it everywhere, when the 636 was nicer for bimbling along, but still perfectly capable. From previous experience parts from yamaha are noticeably more expensive.
Both wheelie nice, and handle very nice. I'd go for the 636. I do like big lardy sports tourers though so I'm not used to things actually wanting to go round corners efficiently, so maybe my judgement isn't the best.

the older 636 is the same as my J2 ninja apart from the engine or close enough if im thinking of the right one. felt the same as my srad, and im not a fan. it'd have to be the newer, smaller model if i was to get one.
i like the r6 power delivery. its the main reason i can clutch mine up in 3rd. i doubt i could do it on any other 600, but pulling away at traffic lights on hills can sometimes be a pain in the arse as a result.
tbh the b1h is sounding a bit better being cheaper and more kitted out.

I own a b1h, havent rode the R6 but from what the reviews say its more of a more rounded road bike than the b1h, although as people in this post have stated the 636 engine is more useful on the road, the b1h's abit too twitchy, firm on most roads.
I personally think the b1h looks 10 ten times better than that model r6 too

they are both light with pretty racy geometry,
but the b1's firm suspension is probably what makes it feel a tad more frisky on pot hole uk roads.
going of of average prices, the Yamaha is usually in the same range as the c1h
which doesn't have any of the b1's issues,
