My Next Bike

Well it's coming close to when I do my A2 test now guys and I'm starting to look around for my next motorbike. I'm trying to look at spending up to about 1.5k but would ideally like to spend about 1k.

I'm trying to decide what I should go for as I want something that is fully faired and has a bit of a kick to it. I want something that is fun to ride and not too bothered about comfort as I'm young

Possibly a 400cc bike if possible such as a Kawasaki Zxr 400 but apparently they're a bit crap?

Anyone have any ideas as to what I should go for?

Insurance for an r6 is outrageous for me and its hard getting one within my tight budget....

As I say to most people, look around this forum, there are tonnes of 'what bike next threads', write down the list of bikes you have seen listed, go onto google images, look at all the bikes. Cross off your list the ones you don't like.

Then go out to a few bike shops and look at the ones you do like, and if possible go for a test ride, (if able) if not, at least sit on the bike and get a feel for it - distance from seat to footpeg, how long the reach to handle bar is, that sort of thing...

Then make an informed decision based on what suits YOU.

you could easily pick up an r6 for 1500. insurance is a bastard though.

have to stick within about a 75 mile range maximum of burgess hill and insurance will be for someone who's 17 so 600cc is most likely out of the question

I've looked at fazers and they just don't do anything for me.
I don't really like the overall shape of them and find it very hard to come across an unfaired bike that I like the look of. (most of the ones ive seen are unfaired)

Where as when I look at bikes like the Gsxr, Cbr, zxr or vfr I cum in my pants.....quite literally.

my 1st bike was cbr600 at 21 it cost me 476 a year comp i now have a gs500e with fairing and looks like gsxr 600 sounds like one and cost me 97 a year and thats 1st bike back on road after a ban so id say a gs500 would be good buy a naked one and you can get the fairing from ebay for next to nothing

Have you had a look at speed triples/street triples?
I know they're not faired but they look sweet none the less.
And they've got more power than you'd know what to do with.

Plus i think they're classed as "classic" bikes now so won't be insane insurance either.

Not sure if the daytona is cheap on insurance either but it's same engine and they're quite fast aswell and look awesome.

You could get an old NC30 / 35, they seem to have stayed the more reliable of the old 400's. The zxr is a great bike, but reliability isn't so hot.

The problem is that the next step up in sports bikes is a 600 which will be a shitter to insure. Have you considered non sports bikes? CB500? Bandit? GPZ500? perhaps that zxr250? Not so fast as the 400, cheaper to insure and newer so more reliable. Might struggle at £1500 though...

Mmmmm it's going to be bloody hard to decide. May have to see how easy it is to acquire parts for each one, insurance prices and performance on each bike now aarrgghh. I'll get to work on the insurance checks tomorrow
