Hi all, a new biker here, well, I will be if I pass my CBT!

I've bought a CG125, and am hopefully going to pass my CBT this week. There are two things I'm not sure on though.

1) On the back of my provisional licence, it has a Cat A entitlement and a picture of a motorbike valid until my 70th birthday. However, it's not stated on my paper counterpart?

2) I have absolutely no experience on a bike or a car. Would I still be able to take my CBT on a geared bike in a day, or would I need more time?

Thanks all!

It depends how quickly you catch on in all fairness. If you don't get it within a day, most places say come back another day free of charge and have another go.

You should be fine to learn within a day to be honest.

Hi

I had never been on a bike before my CBT and found the one day to be plenty, I actually really enjoyed it which was surprising considering I was bricking it beforehand.

Cheers

Your licence sounds right. Your provisional categories are listed on the photo card, so it is not necessary to list them again on the paper part.

Should you pass your test you photo card will only show your full entitlements and any provisional entitlements you still hold will need to be listed on your paper part.

This even confuses insurance companies: I have full cat A, but only provisional B. I wanted to be a named driver on someone else's car insurance so that I could have some lessons, but upon sending copy documents to the insurance company they claimed I had no provisional cat B entitlement because it's not on the back of my photo card. I ended up having to get them to call the DVLA to confirm I was allowed to learn to drive!
