Imac 27" or 24"

I'm in the market for a new mac, my faithful old laptop is currently my workhorse attached to a 20" Acd.

The laptop will remain as a media centre for the tv's, but for work i'm looking at either the 27 or 24 imac.

A 27" imac will set me back between £1200 > £1500, probably a refurb.
(thats for the 3.06 i3/core 2 duo or 2.66 core i5 4gbram)

The 24" i can get on ebay for around £750-800
(typical 2.8ghz 4gbram)

Its main use is photo editing, typically 1000 ish shots batch editing so i want full size preview rendering powah.

Thoughts are 27" will be nice for having decent size image with pallets on the side. (and its oooh so sexy)
Is the 3" a big difference.

For some scope i'm using a 4 year old macbook 2ghz 2gb ram and an old 20"acd.

Either way i'm registering self employed soon so it will be put down as expenses.

computer equipment can't be put down as expenditure in the normal way. Has to be written off over a period of time. Think its 3 years.
Bigger is better for photo work.

The 27" Feels massive, but its the one i'd go for, the design changes are subtle, but welcome, and the resolution is quite a bit higher. It can also act as a Display for something equipped with an HDMI/Displayport/Mini Displayport, and of course has quite a bit more grunt!

Its the pricier option, but the initial investment will save in the long run, as you may feel the 24" becomes outdated sooner, either specs or screen size.
