Hi,

I passed my CBT last month and have bought a Senke SK125 (CG125 lookalike). I'm very please with the bike but it will only run with the choke on (in the first position). It will idle and rev freely with the choke on but as soon as choke is off the engine dies even at revs. I have now done 60km to see if the engine is just tight from being new but still no improvement. I'm concious that the bike will be running rich at the moment.

I have reset the mixture screw on the underside at the front on the carb to fully in and turn and a half back (which seems to be where it was to start with) and just the same?

I have plenty fuel before anyone states the bleedin' obvious lokl! Rolling Eyes

Any advice gratefully received

Thanks

Craig

I was under the impression that the idle screw only held the throttle open a little, or does it do something else that would affect the running in higher revs.

When the choke is switched off whilst idling it does die quickly and does not even attempt to idle and if I switch it off while motoring it runs at low revs but as soon as I open the throttle there is no response apart from some more deep engine noise.

well from what you said, it sounds like the idle screw isnt in far enough. The choke would increase the revs far more than what the idle screw would.. thus letting it run.
Choke off and it dies...not getting enough revs.. just screw the idle screw in 2 turns and work it from there.

I would have though that if it was just the idle I should be able to catch it with the throttle and should rev freely, it doesn't Sad

If it is any help, it is a brand new chinese imported 125cc motorbike with a PZ26 carb

I'm a complete muppet! I apologise to anyone who has wasted the few seconds it took to read my posts and those who replied require beers all round! Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

I was pushing the choke lever in the wrong direction, who would have ever thought (never owning a bike before) that pushing it down would have in fact switched the choke off!!!

I invite a barrage of abuse for my sheer incompetence and stupidity......... Confused

Craig

Well done you passed the first test, no real biker would read the owners manual.

Part two, do not apologise, the phrase 'bloody foreign bikes, they stuck the choke on backwards' would of worked on this occasion.
