What can be wrong with a 2-stroke cylinder head that it needs changing? Is it cracked?

I didn't know Yamaha did a Y-3 head, i thought they were all marked as Y-2 and distinguished by the model number. i.e. 3mb00 etc.
Whats the model number of the one you are looking for?

hi mr krispy i now they did the Y-1, Y-2 and the Y-3 they all look the same on the internet but i dont no if they are or not but Y-3 is the only marking i have on my cylinder head other than yamaha. hi pete it has a massive chumk out of the culinder head were it meets the bore so there is no compression cause it is all going in to the water system and all the water is going down in to the exhaust thanx joycee125 Very Happy

The only difference i'm aware of is the squish band on the 3BN type has a more pronounced ring that reduces compression as a form of restriction.
3BN (Y-2) (notice the raised squish band)

3MB(Y-2) (how it should be)

Y-1 is the cylinder (barrel) and Y-2 is the head!

Is the damage that bad it can't be skimmed?

What year is your DT?

Well if you need a replacement get a 3MB head.
For £100 it sounds dodgy to me, good luck explaining to the police the lack of engine numbers when you get pulled.
