Plymouth chaps went on a ride tonight, mattspratt, raf and a few other locals not off the forum.

Apparently one of the guys blasts up to the front of the ride, cuts back in about 6 feet infront of mattspratt before slamming his anchors on.

Mattspratt brakes and hits him, another Matt does a superman as his bike stops dead. 2nd Matt is now in hospital with suspected broken shoulder, mattspratt and Raf are there with him. Some other guy goes down as well apparently.

All in 4 bikes down with one dude in hospital

Sad

I wasn't there, the above is what I got from a brief chat with mattspratt on the phone. I'll let the guys who were there fill in the rest.....

From the sounds of things a 4 bike pile up and the end result is 1 broken shoulder i'd say everyone got off lightly thank god. Maybe this is another case of everyone wanting to prove they are quick when meeting up in a group? Pack riding is a skill in itself and is often very different to being quick on your own, so its easy to see how this could have happened. Best wishes to the man down, and a promise to participate in the 4 forthcoming new threads int he workshop section!

Yep the R6 is now endowed with a lovely set of scratched and holey fairings... Sad

Yeah fuck knows what the guy was doing, mattspratt reckons he was trying to get everyone to slow down and stop, maybe for a piss/fag/chat/etc, definately not the way to go about it!! Rolling Eyes

Shoulder mans mum is visiting him in hospital so the arguements are being left for the time being I gather...

It's an inescapable fact that whenever a group of people go out for a ride together, there will be one flaptard who tries to show off beyond his/her limited skill and something like this happens. Which is why I never ride with other any more.

Hope the injured guy makes a speedy recovery and that his shoulder can withstand giving the twat a bloody hard slap ASAP.

i was out with boundy and his dad the other week. i rode in my capabilitys and arrived at our destination feeling a little guilty that i had held his dad up as he was following me.

but i wont ride out of my comfort zone, if that holds anyone with me up then i appologise but wont change my style.

im sure as my confidence grows with the big bike so will my capabilities.

I often ride in groups of all capabilities. Fast and not so fast riders, experienced and newbies.

Even if those faster blast off and we ride balls out, when we eventually pulll over to wait then the tailenders are never that far behind. Don't feel guilty about holding someone up, if it bothers them that much they will overtake. I would rather wait a few minutes for a tailender than have that sinking feeling that they really should have caught up by now....

the guy is a cunt. Ive been out with him once before and didnt feel too comfortable around him. He also tried to give me wheelie advice a few times Laughing

apparantly it wasnt his fault so he says. He must have seen something different to what everyone else who was there saw Confused (3 witnesses out of 6 bikes)

All in all a pretty good night though. Mark and i are there in the waiting room for about 10 mins while smashed matt is getting popped back in bitching about this cunt only to find out later his dad was next to us.

R6 is going back to yellow as only my carbon fibre fairings are fucked.

Also might have to go through insurance too as frontflip matts bike is fucked and he's bikeless. Im thinking it wont go 100% fault to him though knowing insurance, and ill lose my hard earned 3 years, but he needs transport.

I was sort of beating myself up a bit about it, but however much i thought about it theres no way in hell i wouldnt have hit him.

Basically im leading, on a straight road, at about 60.
Cunt overtakes me then cuts back in roughly 6-10 feet from my front wheel.
Then slams on the anchors.
I follow suit, but im about level with the middle of his bike so i couldnt possibly have gone around.
He then starts drifting towards the lhs of the road whilst braking.
I ran out of road and hit him at about 15-20mph.
He slides into the path of the other matt who is braking so hard hes doing a pretty awesome stoppy and flies a good 15 feet before landing on his shoulder.
I get up, pick my bike up and give everyone else a hand too.
Then go ballistic at cunt for being a cunt, and stopped realising matt had fucked himself.
Matts bike slid and stopped about 2 feet from the front bumper of an oncoming car.

Shame nobody had a camera on in your group TBH.

How can he say it's not his fault? did he explain why he braked suddenly and why he shot to the front of the group?

Although one rider suffered from a broken shoulder, you all have been very lucky.

Give the twat a slap from me.

it now gets better.
According to cunt, i accelerated into him after he overtook.

So i accelerated from 60 to 20...

May have to go through insurance as frontflip matts bike is fucked. He'll be claiming off cunt, but whether i get involved or not is down to what cunt decides to do.

Mine was least damaged followed by the gsxr, thundercat disintegrated.

It does sound like Matt #2 was riding too close to Matt #1, and I suspect that MattSpratt will have to get involved with regard to insurance as Matt #2 hit you. Yeah so it was the other blokey's fault but its a domino insurance claim.

Aslong as you stick together and witness for each other then surely his insurance will pay out for all your bikes? (optimism)

This claim will go on forever, unless moron admits he was wrong. I had a claim where I was in a smash on a roundabout that went on for 2 years and that was straight forward. You will all lose your no claim till it is sorted then all lose your no claims at the end of it it will end up being split liability it will be a shit load of stress. IMO don't bother claiming. You will get a payout equal to a percentage of your bikes value and you will lose more on your NCB.

Group riding should really be done in a zig-zag formation. Lead guy on the right, guy behind on the left, guy behind him on the right. That way you have maximum stopping distance and can all see each other in your mirrors.

He probably overtook you faster than he's used to going trying to show off in front of the group. He then pulled in and tryed to slow down to what he thought was everybody elses speed. As he was directly in front there is no way he could have seen somebody right behind him. Therefore his claim that you accelorated into the back of him is clearly bollocks as he couldn't have seen you.

i'd claim. i'd wait until mr cunt accepts responsibility and then put in a claim for that sore neck you've suddenly developed not to mention the trauma of having to get back onto the bike again.

Shifty

OP, were you in the group that set off from the Novotel car park? If so, is that the Plymouth Motorcycle Club rideout? I ask because I often see them there and wouldn't mind popping along myself at some point
