Apparently the northern lights when at their brightest can be visible from northern scotland. Lets hope it knocks out a power grid or 2 just to get everybody really scared

I remember in 2005 (I think) there were northern lights easily visible this far south (gloucestershire)
It is very rare to see them this far south and it normally means there's likely to be some interference with power grids further north.

Im on the most north east Scottish peninsular so if I see anything I will take photos, still too light at the moment though.

Doesnt the lack of solar activity in recent years account for the shit summers? I thought that solar flares brought good weather, I might be wrong though it has been known.

Solar flares shouldn't effect weather really. Solar activity can have a small effect on the sun's temperature, but that tends to be on an 18 year cycle and would effect the whole planet year round.

On a slight tangent anyone used google sky maps?

I've got it on now and all I cam say is wow. It is so easy to use. All you do ia point it at the sky amd you have all the known constelatiomons right infront of you. And the night mode makes it even better. Well worth it for anyone using droid. And it's free too. So double bonus.
