Cruiser or Sport for newbie

I'm not really interested in being a speed freak (at least not yet). I'm 48 and think I'd prefer a more sensible comfortable ride.
So with that in mind, which style bikes do you think are more suited to beginners. Cruisers styles like the Hyosung Aquila GV 125 or sports styles like the Yamaha YBR 125?

Depends really, if you find it hard to learn or take time to learn then get something that is easy to learn on, but if you take to it easy and are a natural then get a more speedier 125 as you will get bored easily of a slower bike

theres other bikes than cruiser or hyper sports R1's etc have you thought of tourer type bikes ! im 52 have riden bikes on the road since i was 17, iv had every type bike there is from rd250's (1980's) to gsxr1100 i spent over 5years as a london courier(just shy of 400k miles on 4 different bikes) as well so my total milage on bikes carnt be far off 7 figures! i tried a few customs but they just arnt me, hyper sports bikes absolutely destroy my wrists and knees if i am on them more than half an hour, i still do a track days on an R1 but as a road bike my wrists/knees carnt cope, what i do like is the XJ900 and XJ600 as its a more upright riding position so wrists and legs are fine they have a decent fairing to keep most of the wind/weather off me even during the winter months.
Depending on what you want to spend there are loads of them about.
i like the older 80-90s bikes so theres the xj600 or the XJ900 you can pick up for less than £800 or the later xj600-900 diversion for less than £1000 ! the xj900 is a shaft driver so no chains and sprockets to faff around with, i had 2 of these when couriering and these bikes are just about bullit proof engine wise so go for ever but nice and comfy to ride.
Atm im looking at getting a FJ1200 as the other half wants us to do some touring/camping so theres also the FJ1200 worth considering, again similar to the xj6-900 in looks ish and again bullit proof reliability but if you do fancy a quick blast 125bhp to keep you entertained ! have a read up on these and you may just like what you see but also see if you can get sat on them at a bike shop they are real comfy nice riding position for our older bones lol
i can only comment on the above bikes as iv had a good few of them over the years but im sure suzuki/kawasaki/honda etc do similar type bikes.

No learner legal 125 will be fast so pick one that is cheap, reliable (japanese) and comfortable. Learn on that for a while and if you enjoy biking then decide between classes of bikes when you go to upgrade.

IMO Nakeds of around 600cc offer the best of most worlds; speed, performance, comfort, looks and if you really feel the need then plenty of chromed parts etc etc.

Thanks for all the good advice.
I have been trying a few bikes out and think it'll be either a YBR style or a GN style. I prefer those styles and have decided that styles like the GV125 and the NSR aren't for me.
