Do the CBT, this will allow you to ride a 125 will L plates.

Take a theory test.

Do a DAS course, take and pass the mod 1 (off road maneuvers) and mod 2 (on road test). This will allow you to ride a 33bhp bike for two years before it automatically upgrades to an unrestricted licence.

Alternatively, wait until you are 21 and go for the full unrestricted DAS.

The Mod 1 is pretty simple (if you are close to a centre), youtube some videos of it to have a better idea of what is involved. This has the swerve excercise that the media has been crying about recently. Seriously do NOT worry about it, the swerve is very simple, other slow speed control excercises are much more difficult for a new rider than the swerve Thumbs Up .

The Mod 2 is more like a conventional driving test, but without any maneuvers so is now quite easy. Basically a ride around followed by an instructor in a car/on a bike giving you directions and assessing your riding.

When is your 21st birthday?

I recommend doing a CBT, and get a 125 to ride until your 21st, then go in for lessons on a big bike to get a de-restricted licence.

The DAS is the Direct Access Scheme.

If I'm correct it means that if you are over 21 you can take it and then once your test is passed you can ride any size bike you want without waiting two years.
