I am wondering what we think, the imacs have been "changed" adding higher FSB, SSD options and an ATI 5750 GPU which is rumored to be a mobile 5780 and an HDSD card reader.

Do we think this is it for 2010 considering Apple normally go around a year for a complete update?

I am wondering whether to wait and see if they change the unit again, I would prefer some more GPU grunt for some Pc gaming when it takes my fancy.

No real benchmarks for the card as yet.

lol it cracks me up when people think people dont game on a mac Laughing

I want the option of gaming on a mac but in windoze we have 3 macs in the house 2 macbooks and a mini and I can play some light gaming on my early 2008 pro no problems (crysis, metro 2033, COD etc) so its capable. I want to get an imac as my Pc is massive but I also want to know that I can have the option of gaming on it if I want too.

No one expects a mac to throw out 60fps at 1080 but you would like to know that games like starcraft, or FPS's are playable albeit at lower settings without looking like ass.

Linux plays games too, but it plays them like ass and has no support for the latest directX, making newer games utterly pointless.

If size is an issue you can get a miniATX case, which makes the PC the size of an Xbox360, or you can get a nettop for just doing simple things on, and spend the leftover cash on a new monitor and PS3 Laughing

Best be the annual one and not a mid year as i've just bought one Shocked

They've changed the configurations and made it a seamless backing so might be a decent reshuffle.

Interesting to see games running although i've not touched a desktop game since gta vice city Laughing

I don't understand you Mac folk. Mac OS is great for certain things, but the price of the machines is just silly.

I could understand having one just to enjoy the things that windows doesn't offer and keeping it for quite a few years, but upgrading it for gaming? Windows wins every time sir.

When people say imac I think it's a thread about hair removal creams/mouses/wax.

Tbh i still don't get the whole sitting at a pc for games thing, thats what consoles are for, they are (or at least were) built specifically for gaming so the best choice for urm.....games - no?

The main market is for professionals - designers, animators, photographers, a/v etc for the higher end machines.
For years its basically been industry standard.

Soul; i find a mac better for 99% of things so personally i'll pay the price for one, much like i'd pay a premium for a well established reliable car over a cheapy chinese one.
The point on gaming though, i'd agree - the £1600 would get you a ps3, other mac/pc, lots of games big tv with spare for hookers and booze Laughing

They're technologically out of date before they're released and they aren't upgraded for 4/5 years.

PCs are much better.

Depends what you define as better. PC's are much higher spec, much more capable etc, but if you consider bang for buck consoles are way ahead. The range of games out for consoles alone makes them a better choice for gaming, add to this the fact that most modern games are designed for consoles and often ported to PC, there isn't much use in having the extra power of a PC. I could buy an Xbox and 5 games for less than the cost of just 1 top end graphics card for a PC, thats why i think it's madness when people buy 2 of them! Laughing

The only reason i would consider a PC as truely being 'better' is that it can be used for other tasks aswell. In this regard i also think mac's are better as they are very well designed and easy to use. but on bang for buck again mac's just aren't worth it for 99% of people.
