I've had my AGV helmet for 3 and a half years and I want to change it for something new.

Just been looking at this site where a Nitro helmet obtained 5 stars and its below £100

https://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/Products/productsresults/Helmets/2010/May/may2710-70-quid-lid-takes-five-star-rating/

Not sure where to get one of these from. I called Appleyards in Leeds and they've never heard of the Nitro Akido.

I would appreciate some helpful comments on what to get and where from. Not just the Akido and not from ebay.

Cheers

Vote here for the HJC R-PHA 10.

Quietest lid to date, and most comfy.

Bearing in mind i've had an RSF-2i, and RSI, an RSR2 Carbon, AGV T2, AGV GP-TECH, and an X-LITE 802RR

I would only buy from a shop that I can visit and try the helmets on. I live in Leeds

Be dubious for the designs as most places in the UK online have the US models.

Checkout HJC Europe for the designs.

Also mine weighs in at 1200g.
it's awesome.

I have the Spies rep.

I'v been thinking of buying a new lid as mine is a fairly cheap generic one made by viper and its getting pretty scratched up these days but saying that, following a few links and checking it out on the Sharp website, turns out its an okay 4 stars!

https://sharp.direct.gov.uk/testsratings/viper-rs-44

Not bad for a £50 helmate Smile

Although, that being said, still want a new helmate, this ones noisy as hell Neutral

https://sharp.direct.gov.uk/testsratings/marushin-777-tiger

These are under £100 but not sure where I can get one from in Leeds. I'd need to try them on.

I am very please with my marushin tiger. My next lid will be a marushin rs1 carbon as it is 1050 grams and I absolutely love the build quality/vision/fit of my marushin. (I am saying this after 2 years of abuse including courier work)
It costs around 170 pounds though. Tis still the cheapest carbon lid.

well, if you've got a funny sized head, and would like something that's both guaranteed quite good (5*, visor, well sealed, useful flip-up front) but is a little unusual, there's always this

https://www.georgewhite.co.uk/?category=online_shop&subcategory=helmets&product_category=flip_front_helmets&shop=2

Always wanted one of those copper-coloured trips instead of the silver (only colour I could easily get hold of in Medium when they were all the rage) as I reckon they'd stand out more... and now they're down to £60. If you can fit XS, S or XL, that is... Mad

I suggest trying helmets on and then order online to save money.

Get one that fits your head...not one that you think looks cool, or fits in a certain price bracket. Thumbs Up

I'll third that after a couple days of doing the same. The difference can be quite stark even between lids that are of similar snugness, as they also have different internal shapes. I seem to have a Caberg shaped head, luckily Rolling Eyes
Though I'm going to go into an actual shop (choice of two which had very attentive and patient sales staff) to show a bit of support, lest they no longer be around to provide this service.

https://lidsdirect.co.uk/epages/eshop193014.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/eshop193014/Categories/Clearance

lidsdirect often have good helmets for chrap, check they fit first then buy online, i bought an FG-15 hjc elbows II for £100 reduced from £200

Its a great helmet, didnt want to splash £360 on another arai, money is a bit tight and i have no problems at all with it
