Seen an old post about deristricting the Vivacity 50cc but there were no pics or diagrams regarding the variator plate that needs removing.

Gonna open up and try to have a go at removing over the weekend, but would like it if someone had a manual/fiche or actual pics of the plate, what it looks like and how to remove it?

Had a local bike shop open it up and said there was nothing to remove. They cut and re-welded the restricter pipe on the exhaust but that has given me a boost from 32 to about 37mph. :?

Your help would be gratefully appreciated.

This is the video I used when I de restricted my moped, only a guide for one specific moped, but quite helpful for the general idea! Have a look, you can probably get to the next 4 parts by clicking the links on the video.

Thanks for that Pickledswede.

Think I've doen it and removed the right part......

see pic

Test ride now gets me over 45 on the downward bits :D

Bike seeming to make a more whinier noise now and smelling a little bit but assuming that is a mix of paranoia and bits going faster than used to!

There does seem to be a lot of potentially loose components though that aren't being contained any more by the plate!!

Ah well, let's just hope nothing catches fire!!! :?

Agreed, the part I removed was a washer in between the two conical plates, about 1.5-2cm thick

honda i STRONGLY recomend putting that plate back in

pickled its the same in all bikes an ally ring in the variator between the two conical plates easy to mistake as an important part the part honda has taken out though deffinately important in my opinion

It's not the same on Peugeot's and the part he has removed is the correct part to de-restrict it.

No fundamental parts have been removed and the part you are referring to that holds the rollers in will still be in the bike. Peugeot's have a different restriction method to all other scooters for some reason.

hondafatboy, do not worry Thumbs Up You've removed the correct part and you will have no issues with your bike.

P.S. I used to work for a Peugeot dealership, I have de-restricted countless Peugeot scooters and I am right.

Phew....thanks MS51

I was feeling a bit wary of the part that I removed and it all does seem a bit loose behind there, but even with this plate in place it was all a bit loose, but contained inside this plate!

There is still a plate that sits behind the rollers, with 3 nylon V shaped lugs/guides that let the plate slide up/down the shaft/cola thingummy.

Does anyone have manual/fiche pics that might help explain?

Is there anything I need to look out for or be wary of since doing this mod MS51?
