Could anybody do me a massive favour?
I have an EEPC collecting dust... namely as the Xandro OS on it is a POS which doesn't really work.. I have some SD cards though..
Many of the install instructions I've found require a CD burner... since none of my PCs have this. Would anybody out there be good enough to make a bootable SD card or an SD card which could install and overwrite the base OS on the EEPC?
If I were to say send you an SD card and postage?
Any takers?
Thanks. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will. In the end, your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching. |

I would imagine you could use the UNetbootin utility to make a bootable USB/SD. Something like Ubuntu would be good, they make a netbook friendly version as well.
https://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/

I'd be happy to do it if you want to post the card/stick to me though. ____________________ CBT February 2008 | A2 June 2008 | Yamaha YBR125 (written off) | Honda CBF125 (current) |

Um yeah I'm thinking of sticking unbuntu on it.
As the Xandros POS the WIFI doesn't work and the BT is also broken. Since I'm considering a move and don't want to be lugging around my heavier dell I thought I best get it fixed and working before taking it away.
I don't have ANY optical drives at all which presents me the biggie problem.

Thanks for the offer. Will PM later today, have to go out and do something. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. I have an old 2008 vintage EEPC901 the linux version, which was supposed to be taken with me on my travels, but because the WIFI is so flaky not to mention short ranged it has been gathering dust for quite some time. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. Yay those Unbuntu links work!
Spent ages downloading ubuntu netbook edition and even longer making the USB stick bootable.
Unfortunately the trackpad doesn't though.
Nor does it let me scan for WIFI either. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will. In the end, your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching. |

yeah, scanning for wifi is a problem. You need to know the network name (SSID) |

Works ok off the USB stick now, it has difficulty connecting to my router though unless I put no password on it, dunno why, nowt can connect to this router, none of my phones or my current note book.
So the router maybe the problem testing it out at a known WIFI spot before installing it, probably as a dual boot system. The v10 of unbuntu has a WIFI scanner in it, not too good though so I installed WIFIradar on it. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die.
