How do
Live in a crap area, so can't leave my bike outside. It can fit in the hallway of my place, only problem is, there are two steps to get in.
Now, there's a hole in the pavement just down the road, and it's covered with a plastic board so nick that as a ramp. It's fine for going down, but going up, as soon at the front wheel comes off the board, the rear wheel spit it out and bottoms me out!
Have tried putting a brieze block at the bottom, but that didnt work.
Any suggestions as to what to do? It's just me by myself most the time.
Ta.

i have to get up 5 steps just to get near house and there long steps so i have to use 3 seperate planks , i then have to traverse a narrow corridor and a steep grassy garden but thats another story.
The best way to tackle planks on steps is making sure you pick up enough speed before you hit the ramp, then use the momentum to take you up, doing it slow will always result in board spitting. ____________________ 04 NSR 125(sold) ---- 03 CBR 600rr(sold) ----90 pan euro ST1100 ' ' ----02 CG 125

+1 for the look of horror dude very very funny!
a longer board should sort it. best idea on this thread is the blocks cut diagonally though by far. i would go down that route. ____________________

Cheers for the drawing love, as you can see it took me ages! I am thinking of going pro, if any of you want pictures doing, i'll sort you out cheap
The steps are going to be too steep just to put diagonally cut blocks in, I'd ground out.
Can't really get much speed up, the drawing aren't quite to scale but the edge of the pavement isn't far away.
Putting the wire across is a good idea, and reckon I might try bodging it a bit more.
Just had an amazing idea... if it put nails in the pavement! YES! I am a genious.
Otherwise, with your suggestions I'll wheelie it in, at full pelt, whilst tossing off my semi |

You have to hit the board with enough momentum that you can be off the throttle by the time the backwheel is on there solo.
Alternatively make your own ramp out of decking planks etc, with a lip to hook over the door frame. ____________________ Fallen Angel "Nae sniffing my seat now!!!!! "

Cement the steps into a slope - easier to walk up a slope than riding up steps (if you live in a shared house tell them it's for your disabled relative who visits now / again - hey may be able to get the landlord to pay for it too ). |

Don't bother with a ramp, it's just a pain in the arse and will get nicked / in the way / lost / broken / etc.
Just get some bricks and put them in between the steps to act as 'intermediate' steps, if you catch my flo'
Stick em down with silicone (don't laugh) or cement if you can be bothered so they don't budge. ____________________ Yamaha SZR660 Caution to the wind, the throttle pinned! |

Don't need a longer ramp or anything.
You just need more speed.
It's shooting out because you're still driving with the rear wheel as the front wheel comes off the ramp.
To get around this hit it with a bit more speed and coast up it. Then you'll have no problems. (Or hit it with more speed and whip the clutch in just before the front wheel leaves the ramp.) ____________________ My Flickr |
