My Ebay link - https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230510040577

Please note: I will let the auction run for the full length however open to offers esp. if they include GSXR exhausts . . .

UK NC30 VFR 400 VFR400 RIIIL Stolen/Recovered

I am reluctantly selling my UK Spec VFR400 NC30. At present I have not repaired the damage from the attempted theft which I will outline below so therefore the bike is not ride-able. I am simply listing this bike to see what kind of prices I get – I will not be relisting the bike if I do not get offers I deem to be reasonable, I will simply fix it back to its original state and then sell it. I am not desperate to sell as I pick up a Gixxer on Saturday.

STOLEN/RECOVERED

On Sunday the 8th my VFR was stolen from outside my house. I have a crime reference number and can prove the damage was not on the road/track. My neighbour caught them wheeling the bike off and as we chased them, they dropped the bike. I will outline the damage below however it is mainly cosmetic/ignition damage.
The damage has not been reported to the insurance company as will be cheaper to fix than the loss of my no claims.
I have owned this bike for many years after searching for a VFR NC30 in good condition until I found this one. I have owned an NC24 which I rebuilt and an RVF400 previously – I have been a V4 fan for years. This bike was an excellent example mechanically and in very good cosmetic condition with almost a full service history. I purchased the bike immediately.

I am selling it because of the following reasons:
• I spent a lot of effort getting this bike to ride and look as best as I could, seeing it stolen and now cosmetically damaged was quite upsetting. This was my pride and joy for 4 odd years and I just don’t want to start this project over again, the theft has killed the joy in working on this bike.
• I have recently rebuilt and sold a cat C Bandit and am picking up a 2003 GSXR at the end of the week and want to put all my efforts into that bike.

I have really put a lot of work into this bike and have many years enjoying it.

Good Bits

A good non-thrashed example of a UK Specification VFR400 RIIIL.

The UK models are rarer than import models and feature some differences including bigger headlights, upgraded oil pump with third radiator, heavier duty regulator/rectifier, allegedly produce more power, are not limited in anyway, MPH clocks. This bike is all original I believe apart from the mirrors.

I have the original purchase documents and booklet that came with the bike. This bike was registered in 1990 and is in the original and earliest colour scheme. I am the 10th owner of the bike.

The only problem I have ever had with this bike was a duff battery; it has NEVER failed me once and is incredibly reliable.

HPI free and no insurance write offs.

I regularly check the regulator rectifier charge output and it is constant, within tolerance at 5,000rpm (a common fault on these bikes)

The bike will come with:

• Full service and MOT last month.
• New front tyre last month
• Fuel road legal exhaust with removable baffles
• Black Double Bubble screen
• Short Adjustable leavers
• A brand new rear hugger unfitted in the wrapper with fitting kit and instructions
• R and G crash bungs
• Carbon Instrument surrounds and yoke protector
• HRC blanking plates
• Rear seat pod and Rear seat and rear pegs
• Well used Haynes manual
• Single sided swing arm paddock stand
• A spare mirror
• Brand new in packaging rear brake pads
• Original levers

Since I have owned the bike I have:
• Had a full engine over haul from Honda Marshalls in Peterborough by a very experienced 400 enthusiast Honda Mechanic in 2009.
• Oil and Filter change every year or every 3000 miles
• Just had the clutch adjusted
• Forks refurbished in 2006

Bad Bits

The damage from the theft is as follows:

• Cosmetic damage – Please see photos
• The thieves forced the steering lock and have attempted to start the bike with a screw driver.
• When the bike was dropped the right hand crash bung bent and has cracked the lower right hand fairing.
• The mirror on the right hand side has snapped off but fortunately the top fairing is not cracked.
• The right hand bar end is missing from the drop.
• Overall the bike is in good condition. Some panels are showing their age up close.
• The wheels have been painted black – The original wheels on this model are white.
• There is a scratch in the frame.

So that’s the extent of the damage.

In order to make the bike ride-able you will need:

• A new ignition barrel – I have had a rough quote for £60 brand new however I have spoken to the people at Bikes, Trikes and Stuff in Peterborough and there maybe the option of a second hand one cheap.
An official Honda one:
• The top yoke is cracked – maybe repairable or look for one off of ebay. The official part has been discontinued from Honda however you can get after market parts new.
• Fit the spare mirror I will give you.

This is all that is needed to make it ride-able.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING

Open to offers. I have a price in mind and if you make me an offer of that, it is yours. I will not be negotiating on the price I want, I simply won’t sell it and fix it up.

I will NOT be revealing the reserve price

You are welcome and recommended to come and view the bike yourself

The bike is not ride-able as is so a test ride is not an option.

I may consider taking 2003 Gixxer Six parts in part-ex, if they are interesting!

If you are local, I am happy to help you fix this bike up. I can recommend highly skilled and honest mechanics and bodywork people who won’t rip you off – I’ve been doing up write offs and old bikes for 7 years. I would much prefer this bike to go to someone who will really take care of it and enjoy it than some idiot who will run it to the ground with no servicing and kill it.

Please feel free to ask any questions at kara.webb@hotmail.com

No dodgy companies or stupid deals involving shipping the bike to Europe/Africa – If I sell it, it will be to a biker.
