 |

Hi all,
Just moved house and I am in an area where BT say I can only get 1.5 meg broadband as I am miles from the nearest exchange.
I have just taken out a BT landline, new number hasn't been assigned yet so all of the checkers etc don't work and I am struggling to find a decent ISP that doesn't also want to supply you with line rental. I am trying to avoid having line rental with another company as they wish to charge me to activate the line (£70-120) whereas BT have said they can get it working at no extra cost.
Soooo....
Broadband: First off, I am not in a cable internet area. I use the internet quite a lot in the evenings, basically streaming videos off of free tv type sites and youtube plus the GF does loads of internet shopping etc etc.
I'd estimate about 30-40 GB a month in total, all in the evenings with nothing during the day. Struggling to find a decent ish service provider that can offer me that without it costing me £30 a month for an 'up to 20 meg' line I can't make the most of.
Any suggestions for a slow connection with a good DL limit?

These guys ^ looked good, if not a little complex. I am also trying to avoid an 18 month contract if possible, only expect to be in my current house for 12 months.
Thanks in advance. |

I use https://www.idnet.net/about/ because the don't faff with short term contracts, I activated it with AOL (the line) then canned it after a month and moved to the above company, they are ok, but I'm 5 miles from the telephone exchange, yanking out the bell wire means I have 200kb/s ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. Cheers for that Itchy, will look into them. Which one of their packages did you opt for?
Would a connection allowing up to 20 meg be the same as one allowing up to 2 meg if both were limited to 1.5 by the phone lines? just that these fellas offer a slow line with unlimited usage.

o2 were horribly shit for me. 30k connections speed (yes slower than dial up) all day and night. I logged about 10 hours on the phone to them where they blames my PC, Software, Viruses, Adware, BT, the line, the exchange, and pretty much called me a liar. On swapping to BT i got a 7.8meg connection by the end of the day.
currently on virgin. Decent speed, cheap too, but in no way suitable for bit torrenting, they throttle the hell out of it day and night. |
