What year and how much?

Husabergs can be pretty good bikes, but you do need to pick the right one - and I didn't think they'd made the 400 that recently (may be wrong.)

Seen some very good prices on late model 650s with both sets of wheels - lucky I don't have money to spend or I'd be tempted.

It's a 2002 bike. Currently at about £800 with 7 hours to go. Just wondering what a ballpark figure would be?

2002 wasn't a great vintage apparently (that's what my 501 was) - think both 01 and 03 were considered better.
There's plenty of threads https://husaberg.org/forum/ detailing issues with specific years from what I remember.

If it's just got enduro wheels and not much else, but with T&T, maybe £1k, but doubt that much more. They don't hold their value that well compared to KTMs etc.

Aye, just enduro wheels has 12 months T&T. They haven't disclosed how many hours, so I'm trying to find that out, but fair I'll check out the Huseberg site. Thanks G. Thumbs Up

EDIT-

After a bit of research, these are the issues:

Cam follower bearings: Break up, enter engine they all go eventually ('02 only). Mine finally went in 3rd season of racing... Crying or Very sad

Stator/ignition: This is the SEM ignition used until end of '03. Can be no spark or runs and stall's moments later-see electrical. Stator's can lose varnish, go rusty and crack their plaasticoating. You’re lucky or you’re not! It's heat related (Lineaweaver). Check out this UHE Forum Thread.

Oil leak from cylinder head/rocker cover: Oil seeping around front: Either the breather tube dowel is loose or oil is seeping from head/rocker interface: Plane the rocker cover and and/or the top of the cylinder head as both can distort. For the rocker cover use a pane of glass, P600 wet 'n dry, soapy water and some clothes pegs. Smear the P600 with soapy water and then turn the head/cover 90 degrees every 6 strokes. You can even aerosol spray black paint on the surface to see how it's going.

Camwheel ('02) if aluminium-they wear too quickly so go straight to steel. :banghead:

Sprague bearing if you continually start the bike from cold with the leccy boot, the sprague will 'spin through'. The whole system (battery, starter, sprague) was beefed up for '04 and no more problems. Try to start it with your foot and only when warm go to the leccy boot. Surprised

Kickstart seal: oil weeps from the boss even when 10 minutes old! Uprated in ‘03+ to an 'O' ring.

Sidestand plates: Wear oval. Eventually the end hammers a hole in the bottom of the tailpipe.

Clutch pipe: Splits and weeps. One fall, it leaks at top flexy knuckle. Upgraded '03, but can also use a KTM250F pipe.

Waterpump pipe off: Just pops off on left cover. Needs a taller barb/lip. Build up lip.

O dear. Laughing

Seems the 2002 bikes were a bit weird because Husaberg were between two different factories, so the specs of the bikes can be a bit different.

BUMP.

Not won the bike, but I've been offered it for £1k, just want to know what the spares supply is like for the pre 2004 bikes. All the websites I can find only seem to list spares back to 2004. Confused

I had a few issues with mine, but the most annoying was it was a complete bitch to start from hot with the road legal pipe on. Fine with the loud one.
Have spent over a quarter an hour of continuous kicking.

Don't know if still does it, but there was a bloke on the Husaberg forum who was an official qualified technician that did engine work etc for very reasonable prices - think it was £15ph he charged me a few years ago.

I didn't have a problem getting parts for my 02. There's a husaberg place about 10 miles away from my house and they always sorted me out ok.

This one has a loud pipe anyway, and a working electric start. Thinking

Still tempted.

After some tweaking, electric start would work, but not from hot with the road pipe on.

As far as bikes to ride go, they're pretty good and the 400 is generally considered the best size for trail riding and those not so experience - as you can rag it a bit more than the 501/550/650 which most of the time you're not over 1/4 throttle!
