Afternoon,

A cat has taking quite a liking to me, i don't own it & i've never fed it but when i work on the bike he tends to lay right beside me & constantly brushing up against me.

Anyway, last night i found a dead Mouse on my window sil with the cat sitting below staring up at my window.

Would it of been the Cat that brought it to me? In any other situation i'd be been 99.9% sure it was but yesterday was the day a group of chavs who live near-by decided to give me 'evils' (vicky Pollard style) i played their little game & stared back & they looked away & i carried on working on the bike. The same dirty chavs who knocked on my door & ran off.

So very big coincidence but what are the chances a Cat you do not own would bring you stuff?

Thumbs Up

Cats are very different to dogs in that they are not indiscriminantly loyal to one person regardless of treatment. A cat is more than likely to change allegiance for various reasons. For example if the 'owner' has recently had a baby, got another pet or even gone on holiday they will often up sticks and move!

If this cat has shown affection towards you and interest in you I think it's more than likely that it would bring you a dead mouse present! The feral cats here often bring me dead shrews and leave the insides of mice on my doorstep - I try to be flattered but it's pretty disgusting tbh! Rolling Eyes

The cat is friendly enough to sit and watch you spanner, and also to brush up against you, so no reason why not. Chances are it threw the mouse up there and was about to jump up onto the windowsill and tell you about it. Its a fairly unlikely scenario that the chavs left it there, and the cat noticed and was about to jump up there, JUST as you happened to look out the window and see it/them.

Unless the chavs start leaving you REALLY unpleasant little surprises (used items of personal sanitation, for example) then I would assume it was the cat.

My cat once brung me a live mouse (well, okay, HALF alive) and proceeded to throw it around the living room until it was dead. It landed on top of stuff, the telly table, under the desk, beside the bookshelf, and the cat jumped up to get it, wherever it landed, and torment it some more, poor stunned little mouse, until eventually she crunched her way through it, chewed its face off and left me its pointy little muzzle. Crying or Very sad

Entirely possible.

Cats take stuff they catch to places where they're relaxed/comfortable, so the cat might have taken it there with the intention of eating it but the cat didn't plan on you coming along and thinking that the dead mouse is a present for you. Razz

The cat really needs to bring you better things than mice, you want it to be bringing you pigeons or brown rats. Thumbs Up

be afraid....... very afraid

Secret Cat Diary

DAY 752 - My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry cereal. The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape, and the mild satisfaction I get from shredding the occasional piece of furniture. Tomorrow I may eat another houseplant and cough it up on the carpeting.

DAY 761 - Today my attempt to kill my captors by weaving around their feet while they were walking almost succeeded, must try this at the top of the stairs. In an attempt to disgust and repulse these vile oppressors, I once again induced myself to vomit on their favorite chair...must try this on their bed (again).

DAY 762 - Slept all day so that I could annoy my captors with sleep depriving, incessant pleas for food at ungodly hours of the night.

DAY 765 - Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body, in an attempt to make them aware of what I am capable of, and to try to strike fear into their hearts. They only cooed and condescended about what a good little cat I was...Hmmm. Not working according to plan...

DAY 768- I am finally aware of how sadistic they are. For no good reason I was chosen for the water torture. This time however it included a burning foamy chemical called "shampoo". What sick minds could invent such a liquid. My only consolation is the piece of thumb still stuck between my teeth and the tiny bit of flesh under my claws.

DAY 771 - There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices. I was placed in solitary throughout the event. However, I could hear the noise and smell the foul odor of the glass tubes they call "beer." More importantly I overheard that my confinement was due to MY power of "allergies". Must learn what this is and how to use it to my advantage.

DAY 774 - I am convinced the other captives are flunkies and maybe snitches. The dog is routinely released and seems more than happy to return. He is obviously a half-wit. The Bird on the other hand has got to be an informant. He has mastered their frightful tongue (something akin to mole speak) and speaks with them regularly. I am certain he reports my every move. Due to his current placement in the metal room his safety is assured. But I can wait, it is only a matter of time.

Our cats have brought us:

A live long eared bat
A dead pipistrelle bat
Half of the neighbours pet rabbit
A pigeon
A chicken
Several frogs
Countless dead mice
Countless live mice
A live mouse whose head had been skinned but was still alive and running around the kitchen.

You got away lightly!

Hi

With the size of a Main Coon you are probably lucky it didn't feel like dragging in the neighbors kid.

All the best

My cats have brought me a fork, and a clingfilm wrapped cheese and cucumber roll. If they can do that, surely they should have the decency to bring me wallets and purses?

When I was cat / house sitting once, I heard a right old commotion from the lounge late one night, but because it was sooo late, I soon drifted back to sleep.

Next morning, went downstairs to find a big brown rat corpse.. actually for once I was pleased I didn't go down to investigate, I'm not sure I'd actually want to rescue a rat...or how I would go about doing it! Shocked

The cat was outside again yesterday when the delivery man came, turns out this guy was shit scared of cats & when i told him it wasn't mine, he started saying "But why is he here" "This isn't normal" "He's up to something, you see what he is he doing" (the cat was just sitting there for christ sake) He was like a little girl & nearly jumped out of his skin. Laughing

Yes it didn't seem unusual to be anxious around cats but it was what he said about it that was odd (never really gave it a thought until your post). Must be a horrible feeling.

I wouldn't get one as a pet as they seem to just go off & do whatever they want & come back for food, but seem relaxing when indoors. Much prefer dogs for taking them on walks & seem more playful outside.

Cats do not see themselves as little people, they see us as big, stupid cats.

Said cat hasn't seen you catch anything and brought you a present. It was porbably alive for all of 60 seconds when first delivered, but if you don't know how to kill they think you're stupid kitten and do it for you. If the gift isn't eaten within a couple of minutes they'll do it for you. The stomach and lower intestine is not eaten.

Feed the cat. You've made friends, therefore you must serve the cat.

Useless fact: Cats see squinting as a sign of affection. People squint their eyes when they dislike something and that's why cats often go to cat haters, like me.

/useless random fact.

God I'm bored.

Yep, I was told not to stare or glare at my cats - doing a gentle close eye, squint makes them realise how much you Wub them!!

So there's your answer Flip - give 'em one of your bestest Paddington Bear stares and that should see them running for the hills!! Shocked

Remember cats are not like dogs! Thumbs Up

You need to eat the mouse, it is a bonding thing. If you refuse to eat it you will be the cat's bitch forever.
