Can anybody explain why the price of these bikes fluctuates so much.
I've JUST missed a K7 DRZ400 SM for £2k. It sold this morning, Absolutely gutted I missed it.
Completely stock, 6000 miles on the clock, 2 new Pirelli Diablo tyres fitted, Mint condition.
Then you've got K2 and K3 models with 20k miles on them, Nothing special, rip in the seat, bald tyres etc, and the owners are asking £3k~ for them.
Whats all that about?
I want something fairly decent, and reasonably new, And my limit is £2k. Not because Im tight, or cant afford any more, but because I begrudge paying over £2k for a bike which im blatantly going to wheelie, crash, abuse etc.
Not only that, I've gotta cough up another £400 to insure the thing (if I even bother insuring my next bike), and some dosh for new bike gear as wearing the leathers every time I take it out will piss me off.
Cheers
Ben

Would have thought these would be a little lardy and underpowered for you?
If it's just for fun, why not consider something like a WR450 with SM wheels? ____________________ My Flickr |

The DRZ was my first choice, simply because it's a clean cut, decent bike, with pillion facility.
It's also pretty good on insurance.
As for the power, Meh, It's time I took a cut in power tbh. I'm gonna end up dead otherwise. And that's not me acting cool, or trying to be manly, It's me being honest and actually using my brain for once.
WR's look really good, but all the ones I see seem to have no 5th gear. |

I presumed as much - better brakes, suspension, a lot less weight, almost twice as much power, not very useful for pillions; for the owner of a circa 30hp pitmoto, it seems more appropriate . |

Picked the bike up tonight, Really happy with it. It's immaculate.
Few choice mods are needed. It's not got a tail light, only brake light.
And no sidelight up front, only dipped and high beam.
Tail tidy is coming off, plate is being mounted up under the seat I think, out of the way, And gonna get an LED tail light with intergrated brake light.
Hand guards have gotta go, gonna replace them with some proper reinforced wrap around ones as and when I have the spare cash.
Need new grips, and some nice bar ends, would also like to replace the bars eventually with black ones, not so keen on the blue.
Other than that, it's awesome, proper chuffed with it, Clearly being a well looked after bike. Receipt for £733 for wheel rebuild and new tyres.
Also receipt for £340 for lighting and ignition kit fitting.

Chain looks a bit slack
I may be interested in your handguards. Once you replace them, PM me if you want to get rid |

I'll let you know when I come to replace them.
Just bought a pair of tyres on ebay. Gone with the Maxxis Supermaxx. Seem to be recommended by SM riders. £130 delivered for the pair. Cheaper than I can get them through work!
MOT at the end of the week, cant wait to get it out. |

Nice, though interesting choice of tyre it comes with!
Most important question; did it come with dirt wheels so you can have proper fun with it? |

Love it! Just been out for a quick hoon, bearing in mind the tyres are shitty, It's bloody quick, and corners nicely too.
It's got a smaller rear sprocket fitted, not sure how much smaller, but it's still lairy as hell of the line.
Will happily lift in first, second and third, just on the power/gearchange. 4th, It seems perky enough to lift the front if you can get it right.
Tank took £7.50 and it had about 1/2 liter already in there, So shouldnt be too bad. Just doesnt have a reserve or fuel gauge. So planned trips are going to be necessary.
As for service intervals. As long as it's only oil, filter etc, I dont mind doing it every 500 miles or so. Dont fancy having to re-shim valves etc every couple of weeks.
