This vote is going down 50/50 on other forums I've asked, and it's doing my head in, I just can't decide!!!

The bike in question so you know which will look best.

Hi

Assuming based on looks, definitely the 5 spoke. The 7 spoke ones look ugly, like something from a cheap Chinese sports bike based on a CG125.

All the best

Keith

This. 5 spokers are like nicer.

Surely they're lighter too. Wink

I'd stick with 3, as I think less is more. Given the two choices, I'd have to go with 5.

The 5 spokes are prettier, but the 7 spokes are a more sensibly engineered design, so are probably stronger or lighter or both.

When I say more sensibly engineered, I mean that because the spokes go directly from the rim to the axle they are going to transmit forces more directly. With the 5 spokes, they are go to the side of the hub, which isnt as efficient.

I'm with Shaggy on this, but out of the two options I voted for the 5s, the 7s are pretty ugly IMO.

The 7's look like car wheels, go for the 5's or even better stick with the 3's for aesthetics.

Depends where the load is, and the greatest load is probably on braking when the 5 spokes will likely have less shear strain and more compression / tension (and CF works under tension).

All the best

Aesthetically
5 spoke or 7 spoke... 5 spoke wins
5 spoke or 3 spoke... 3 spoke wins

If you're buying them based on what other people think of how they look then lol.

If you're buying them for performance reasons then get whichever is lightest/strongest/best.

the shape kind of remind me of 996/748S,R rims,
(not saying they are identical),
in fact, isn't that rear carbon rim for a single side swinger?
(1098 probably)

Nah, the 996R/748R rims are far more tasty. They are 5 spoke Marchesinis. Drooling

I don't like how the 7 spokes come straight out of the hub, the 5 look better because they don;t have rotational symmetry.
