Hi All

Can anyone recommend a seat recovering company that can fit gel pads and varying foams to make the seat a bit comfier?

I need to make my pillion seat a tad softer for passengers and whilst I'm at it i may as well do the rider seat too.

I looked into recovering a while ago as I want to recover with the grippy weave material on bikes these days but now need a comfier pillion seat.
I don't want to change the look of the seats by adding things like an Airhawk etc.

Anyway, googling I can't find a site that has a set or range of prices for changing the foam and inserting gel and I'm not getting replies from any of the ones I've emailed.

So, can someone (from personal experience) recommend me a company/person to use?

Thanks!
Squishio

Hi

We used P&P seating in Birmingham for the Bandits seat. That was having the front section cut down and recovered (keeping it looking fairly standard) with a gel insert

All the best

I would look in your local Yellow Pages/ Thompsons Local. Most auto upholsterers will do the work and a local one to me specialised in boats/bikes/exotic cars.

As for price, the cheapest way to do it would be to ring around your local furniture upholsterers, though if you want gel inserts it might put them off. I got mine done this way, but all I wanted was a straight recover, cost me £60.

At a specialist the sky's the limit really, leather/vinyl/inserts, for a complex job I'd budget about £120 upwards.

I had looked at P&P but couldn't find any prices, and the bike is a Hyosung which ofcourse isn't listed on their makes and models bit.

They also didn't reply when I contacted them Sad

I've used this lot and they seemed to be pretty decent: https://www.saxonseats.co.uk/ .

They've got example pricing on their site.

just found them through google Thumbs Up Karma

80 quid for a lump of gel to be stuck to your seat, seems a bit high though no?

I've emailed them for a quote for exactly what I want so we'll see what price they come back with.

Have also emailed...

I went down there (remoulded as well as gel fitted on to my 690 seat) and in the end, they do spend a chunk of time on it, know their stuff etc. They use decent gel inserts that I presume do cost a bit too - considering the cost of mechanics etc, it doesn't seem too unreasonable.

I've heard of a few people that have got the foam changed to a softer profile by a normal furniture upholster and for a lot less than the link posted.
