What do you think of race replica helmets?

Are they worth the extra money for the designs or are they a bit sad?

No difference. Some race reps are nice, others are hateful.

I'd buy one because I like the design rather than because of a particular rider.

Some of them look cool. I don't care whose replicas they are as long as I like the look of the helmet.

I like Valentino Rossi but I don't think that I would buy his replica helmet .. too yellow for my liking.

I like Shoei Mika Kallio replica helmet but I'm not a fan at all.

Had Shark last few times.

Always bought last years designs/colours.

Latest ones were £429, year later they were £140 odd.

Rossi lids always make you look like a bender IMHO.

Love my spies rep though...

As said above, some are cool, some are shit.

I honestly couldn't see myself forking out the better part of 500 notes on a lid, unless it offered something other lids don't, but if money was no object I'd love one of the Nakano reps, just because they look ace IMO. Cool

I think people who buy rossi replicas are total sad acts.

Especially this one:

https://static.blogo.it/twowheelsblog/valentino-rossi-helmet/valentino_rossi_helmet_01.jpg

I guess the reasonably unknown racers lids aren't so bad, although they are usually overpriced.

I personally think plain coloured helmets are the coolest, mainly black as fancy designs on helmets just remind me of "ped boys".

98%* of all full-face lids in bike shops are vomit inducing. Only the plain ones are ok.

I think race rep helmets are a licence to print money. Like a fashion accessory really, the idea being that when the next season starts you'll want a different one.

I like one with a design of some description, but I've never bought a race rep one.

I've got a Rossi one. This is after I bought a Shark helmet that was causing major headaches. There wasn't much to choose from so I went for the AGV as it is a great fit for my noggin.

Well I've got one of these:-

https://www.motorcycleparts-accessories-andmore.com/images/shark-s500-motorcycle-helmet-34137.jpg

With the obligatory iridium visor (the shame), in mitigation it is very sunny here.

it's a very pleasant lid to use, you get loads of air in, which a big plus in a hot climate!

I've got this hopkins one. Went in with the intention of buying an all black one, but this caught my eye. Everyone has different tastes, just that some peoples tastes aren't as good as others Razz

not really a fan of replica helmets, seems like a good 75% of the pedboys around birmingham have a rossi helmet.

It's usually the black/yellow gothic 46 one.. it would seem that a combination of that helmet, hoody, tracksuit bottoms, expensive skater trainers and putting your feet on the pillion pegs can fool eveyone into mistaking your Peugeot SpeedFightAsboWhiteLightningUnderagePregnancy for the latest top-secret 2011 development test model Yamaha M1

If I was going to go for a replica helmet though, I'd probably go for:
https://www.speshul.org/random/shinya-nakano.jpg
Shinya Nakano 2006 design in Kwak green.. just because the eyeball design looks really funny Very Happy

The replica lid below is smart but as a rule they are gayer than a gay dog shaggin' a homos leg.

They used to do a Barry Sheene replica lid in the 80s which was the bollocks. There was also a really cool Randy Mamola one, I seem to remember. Modern ones are overpriced old wank normally worn by people with a bit more money than good taste Laughing But each to their own.

Don't mind either way. I used to have a Doohan rep as I liked the graphics, but tend to stick with plainer colours now.

It's easy to look over the top with some of them though. I recall seeing a chap dressed in a Rossi AGV lid, Rossi Fiat leathers and with an M1 replica R6. They say imitation is a big sign of respect, but I just wondered, that is a big ask if he wasn't as good a rider as the man himself.
