My Crosser... Hongdou PW80 (Yamaha PW80 Replica)

So i've had this bike for about 3 or 4 years and i must admit, it's been a joy having it in my life. It was a non-runner for about a year in 2008. So i shouted at my dad to get me a new throttle cable for it, cus i was bored of looking at it and not being able to ride it. Well after that, i haven't had any problems except the rubber snapping between the exhaust pipe and (i think) the catalytic converter, and when my mate drove it over the wall and luckily only broke off the start switch (see pic) but i took the whole body kit off of it, gave it the best clean i could, and decided to get all that connected up and sounding like a crosser not a moped. Success. it's not got any rubber on it now, but it's all connected tightly and sounds lovely (in my eyes) and it's quite clean. The kit itself is all scratched and the marks/colours are all like dyed into the plastic, so sorry if it looks un-tidy

No clutch? Also it doesn't have a catalytic converter. The foot pegs could probably be hammered and bent back into shape. If it were mine i would have to do it, but maybe you can put up with it?

Letting mates ride your bike is a dangerous game. Eve if they say they will fix it, they won't. They don't have the money, tools or motivation to fix something thats not theirs.

No clutch it's semi auto. and yeah, my mate said he'd pay for any damage, well he got lucky as hell! Should've said give me £10 for emptying the tank!! lol. Also, i'll upload a pic of the bit i'm talking about. maybe you can tell me what it is?

Also as a young man about to buy a bike you will no doubt shortly become obsessed with these things called 'power valves' I suggest reading up on then so that you:
a) Don't get confused with power band's in front of the knowledgeable bikers and get laughed at as with most youngsters
b) Know when someone is talking complete bollocks when trying to sell you a bike or brag about how much better theirs is.

If the line:
'I've just fitted a new power band to my bike to make it go faster'
doesn't make you laugh, you are probably as ignorant as the little chav who will inevitably say that to you are some point.

There is the problem, ever heard of the expression "All the gear, no idea." ? There are plenty of guys who will spend the money on a sports bike and matching leathers, but are so clueless they end up in the front of a lorry 1000miles of slow riding later.

Usually applies to people who have got into biking with a load of money behind them and sod all mechanical knowledge. This can be some 16/17 year old bought a top end bike by mummy and daddy, or it can be some 45 year old who has bought a bike as a mid life crisis, and anything inbetween. I've met so many people with a brand new sports bike, matching leathers and helmet, talking about what upgrades their getting and talking complete bollocks about how and why their bike is the best. So basically don't be fooled by appearances! Just because someone looks like they know what they're talking about, doesn't mean they do

i don't want to be a dickhead who is stuck up his own arse thinking he knows everything.. i will try my very best to learn things about the bike i choose and if i KNOW it's right. i will argue. i dont have much money in the family so i won't be buying a brand new suit or anything lol.

i really hate people who think they know what they're on about and they won't give in until you agree. Ugh! they really piss me off! lol

Bikes are a learning experience for anyone that hasnt trained as a motorcycle mechanic. The basics are similar on most bikes out there. eg. i changed a clutch cable on a 125 and when my 750 clutch cable went i was able to follow pretty much the same procedure. Same with chain adjustment. Theres not much difference between bikes.

Dont be afraid to ask about anything your not sure of and looking online can be a great source of diagrams and information about the workings of a bike engine.

Normally if something breaks or needs adjusted then the helpful folk at BCF will help as best they can.

Yeah all bikes pretty much have the exact same setup as a different one like you say about your 125 and 750.

i'm slightly annoyed at this bike cus i went to start it, and the throttle cable was already snapped! Grr... hopefully getting a new one tomorrow
