he obviously has more money than sense. and as a new rider i'd make sure he has life inshurance.

but then he could be a sensible new rider not all 'noobs' go out and just hammer the throttle. You never know it might be a good move for him or it might not. end of the day his money and his life let him get on with it

Why do you care what he spends his money on, just because it a fast powerful bike doesn't mean you have to ride it like that, its not compulsory?

No offence mate, but he wants to cool his F**king boots, a speed triple is way more than enough for sumone who is new to riding and only ever go's out wen the weather nice and at the weekend lol
R1 is amazing, but a potential widow maker for sumone that has such little experience...
tell him that, he will love you forever

Tbh it sounds like he's made his mind up, but all id say to him is dont underestimate a bike like the R1, sumone who thinks there quick and hasent got alot of experience is a very very dangerous combination...... arogance will get you killed on the road, as alot of people have said, get some experience...
Any jumped up muppit can buy a 1000cc, riding it without crashing is a completely different matter Thumbs Up

Ive had a test ride of the 2010 R1 and TBH its bloody forgiving and easy to ride. Dump it into a bend and it just sits there. its got bucket loads of speed but after half an hour i was just MEH id rather have a gixer thou. Just seemed to have lost the IM GONNA KILL YOU ON THE NEXT BEND feeling the R1 series of bikes have always had. Sad

Getting back on my 99 and tank slapping at the first bend i came to knocked me back to reality and put a smile back on my face. Mr. Green

He wants to go faster?
Don't think i'd be going for an R1 if it was me. But then i don't really like R1's. Something about all you hear is "Man an R1 wants to kill you! It's like stupidly crazy fast like the fastest biker ever dude!"

Gixxer thou on the other hand. Hmm Laughing

tell him to get an R6R or 600RR

I have an 08 R1 and had a GSXR750 and a 600 RR prior to this, and they both gave me vital experience.... in essence the 750 and the R1 are comparable in performance and handling, I wrote the 750 off though, hence why I moved on

I have over 16 years riding experience and the R1 is more than enough for me... I love it, but loved my time on a 600 more in some ways.... made me actually use the gears more and work harder, which I take for granted on the R1 as it pulls no matter what gear I am in.

i'd tell him to get some leathers 1st, then when he does get the R1 and eventually falls off he will have some protection, those jeans wont last 2 seconds

If he's dead set on the R1 it must be because he likes it.
As i said each to their own. If it was me i'm sure i could care less what some guy on an online forum thinks if i found the bike i want lol

I change my mind several times though. I used to always want the old cbr 600. Ended up with a 750 gixxer and loved it. Then i wanted a ninja and ended up with this Firestorm and love it.
Want a speed triple next. Wonder what bike i will end up getting Razz

Eh, let him get the R1, he will quickly learn that he has no hope of learning how to ride properly on it.

There is a phrase that goes:
Adapt, or die.

His experience will some somewhat similar. He will either use common sense and survival instinct to get used to the R1 and become a better rider for it. Or he will up on the floor / in the front of a lorry / in a tree, whilst traveling at 5 / 20 / 60 / 180 mph. Truth is if he were a complete moron that would happen on his current bike. Clearly he has confidence in himself or he wouldn't be considering it. You attempting to convince him its not a good idea will be seen as a direct attack on his confidence and will likely be ignored.
