Fast ticking / clicking noise when front braking

hi, bike is a 2000 triumph sprint st 955 with 40k on the clock. when using the front brake there is a fast clicking noise coming from the brakes themselves, like a quick ticking sound. i've noticed it at low speeds but it could be happening when travelling quicker and i just cant hear it. Discs have some lateral and back / forward play in them but it recently passed it's MOT and this wasn't mentioned so i presume this is normal? any advice much appreciated, thanks

Try some copper slip grease behind the pads.

I had two of those beasts, brakes are good.
Remove the pads and look for cracks in the discs.
Or a bit of 'something' in any of the holes.

Off topic bit:
Main problem I had with my ST was keeping the rear eccentric free to permit chain adjustment.
Bastard of a job to do if seized.

Oh aye... then there is the coil unit fragility issue....
