Finding parts tends NOT to be very hard, for ANYTHING.
Its just a question of money.
What you MEAN, I suspect is you cant find a starter for your bike, for what you think is 'sensible' money, or what you can afford.
Go to Honda they'll almost certainly be able to tell you what part you need, what else it fits, and in all probability, procure one for you, even, as its a USA spec model, means checking the workd-wide dealer inventories and getting it shipped from where-ever some-one has one lying on a shelf....
Anyway, that one asside, old fasioned way of doing stuff was to use the yellow-pages, call bike breakers and ask some-one if they had something suitable.
Might not have the bit you want on the bike you have taken it off, but they'd often know what else would fit, or suggest they had something that MIGHT be the same and offer to let you come over and compare your part with theirs.
Still works I believe.
alternatively, like many things, just becouse a large assembly doesn't work, dont mean its dead, and the ONLY way to fix it is to chuck it away and replace it.
Starters and alternators CAN be reconditioned. Often its just the brushes that are worn out in them, but some-times teh windings have broken down, but that can be fixed by removing the old wire and re-winding them with new insulated wire, and can give you a part 'as good as new'..... in a lot of cases, its actually more expensive than a replacement patern part, particularly if they are a common model, but on something less common, often cheaper, and if the part is utterly un-obtainable, the only way of solving it.
BUT, comes down, as ever to money. How much are you prepared to pay?
Check out the breakers by phone or e-mail for 2nd hand parts, but also check out the electrical reconditioners for rewinds.
