Can anybody recommend me decent textile jacket, that's waterproof for a decent amount of time and if possible has a removable lining. Not too fussed on the price although i don't want to spend an absolute fortune though.
I found out my old jacket isn't very waterproof in a downpour the other day.

You pretty much described all textile jackets there, mate. Just make sure it has a storm flap. My Arlen Ness didn't and I only realised when it pissed down with rain. Laughing

Just make sure it's Gore-Tex or the like Thumbs Up

I've got a Stadler Gtex jacket which has been used in some impressively heavy rain and remains dry as a bone inside Cool
Cigarette's and mobile phone etc are all dry inside the pockets too which is a massive bonus Thumbs Up

I'm not sure if you can get Stadler jackets in the UK anymore though Neutral

Why not get a waterproof over coat thingy? Then you can fold it away under the seat and wear it over your existing jacket when it rains. That's what I'm going to do Thumbs Up

That's what I do. Only issue is, they do get wet on the inside.

I had matching trousers as well but they fell apart so bought some proper waterproof textile pants.

Has anybody got/used a Richa Cage? I like the look of it but can't find any reviews on it.

Not familiar with that one but I'm very, very pleased with my Richa Multi. Bone dry, warm, two removable liners and doesn't look too gay, a major consideration for textile jackets Wink

My boss spent like 250 on a hein gericke gore tex jacket.

I think it had a gurantee to be waterproof and any stitching gone will be fixed too.

He said it is great for rain, but when he walks pass it does stink abit.

I have a Revitt jacket that had managed to keep me very dry for the last 3 years. I find the Hein Gerieck (sp?) stuff really good.

I've had the Warp jacket from Rev'it for the last 2 and a half years. I think this is their cheapest jacket at £120ish. The good points for it is that it's very warm in the winter and comfortable, whilst also being cool in the summer with the liner removed and vents opened up. The armour is Knox in the elbows, shoulders and back, and is decent stuff.

Now the bad bits; Its waterproofing has gradually got worse, up to the point where it won't last much longer than 10 minutes in a big downpour, despite the fact that I've cleaned, and then washed in/sprayed on waterproofing agents which don't seem to help much. So I just have a rainsuit that goes over everything. Also, the inner 'waterproof' lining membrane has split in a few places over the years, and the collar has also torn away from the jacket at the 'stress point' where the hook is that hang it up on. All fixed with a bit of needle and thread though.

Overall, considering how much it cost and how much use the jacket gets (a couple of hours, nearly every day in all weathers), I think it's done quite well. At the moment I'm not quite sure whether to retire it this Christmas or let it go through one more winter whilst patching it up.
