Sounds like the engine was hunting a bit. Needs a bit of a tune up. perhaps some halfords spark plug and a cup holder will help. Didn't see any "This car runs on Fairy dust" signs either.

I had an F250 6.8l V10 when I lived over there. We used it for towing the horse box and carrying bales of hay when we bought it in bulk.
Everyone has a pickup over there, it's not uncommon for the chief exec of a company to rock up to a meeting in his pickup.

They also sound rather special, and mine was selectable 4 wheel drive, so most of the time it was rwd and would drive most places sideways
