I genuinely don't get it.

Several of the young mums on my facebook seem to spend half of their day joining groups such as "watch out for paedophiles trying to get pics of your kids" or "mommies on a mission".

Is this done through sheer boredom when they suddenly realise they've ruined their lives by having kids so try to become vigilantes or are they just genuinely stupid?

It seems like they throw themselves at scaremongering and want to fear for their kids constantly.

I find it all rather odd...

What really REALLY annoys me is when people throw the whole "you don't have kids so you won't understand" crap around. Its as if becoming a parent magically changes your opinion about things and if you dont have children you can be looked down upon by those smug ones who do. Not every parent is like that fortunately!

Whatever happened to keeping your children safe by educating them? If you get scared about pedophiles accessing your photos on Facebook then set your profile to private or take your pictures off. Joining some weirdy group expressing outrage doesn't achieve anything. Apart from making me laugh at some of the comments Razz

Or do I not understand because im not a mother?

Well I'm a father and I completely agree with what your saying.

It seems to me that a lot of mothers (particularly) are pressurized by their peers on FB to conform with societies view of protecting children, and are made to feel a bit odd if they dont join "mutherz for the abolition of all bad things that happen to kidz...."

Add to this the massive over hype of dangers to kids by the media, and the generally low IQ of a lot of the people who use facebook, and you get a culture of paranoia that is based on very rare incidents...

Clearly stupid and bored - bored enough with their lives to need these ridiculous groups to join and talk about, and stupid to think that:

a) Facebook is overrun with peadophiles; and
b) These groups will make that perceived situation better.

You can also tell they are stupid by the way their comments are written.

Neither my missus or any of her friends are part of such groups, and they pretty much all have young kids.

They need something to do between Jeremy Kyle and popping out to collect their free money courtesy of the tax payer.

I've done the same as you and commented in peoples status', pointing them to the hoax site revelation, had the arguements about 'well you can never be too careful'.

The thing you come to realise is that its pointless trying to argue with retards about retarded stuff, they are far more schooled in it than I, so I just have to give up in the end. It doesn't particularly bother me in itself, the fact that these people are breeding on the other hand..... I have nightmares mate, fucking nightmares.

What's the biggest cause of paedophilia in this country?
Sexy kids

Anyway, the majority of child sexual offenders are known to their victims. So you don't need to be too worried about what your kids are doing on facebook, it's your family and friends that you need to be keeping an eye on!!

What are these women doing taking the sort of pics of their kids that pedo's are interested in? And then why put them on Facebook?

Its daytime telly, makes you think everyone is out to get you / little Johnny.

Hi

Do these parents put up pictures of their kids that could be regarded as paedophile material? Or do they just regard any image of a kid as being paedophile material?

All the best

I don't think people should put pictures of their kids on any website, to do so then go on missions about predatory peadophiles fapping away at them is illogical. Its tantamout to just sending them pics directly to save them the bother of rooting around in peoples albums.

This has no downside to be honest, their kids won't get peado'd and I won't have to look at pictures of gurning children I neither like nor care about.

Of course, the natural progression of this is, some hyperactive parent finds out a picture of their little darling has been found on a perverts netbook, hey presto you have Brenda Chattering-Class's Law which says if you look at any picture online that includes a child you get the jail and put in a database for the rest of your life.

Actually, they can have their silly wee groups, as long as it keeps them from doing any real damage via some emotionally misguided media campaign.

Next time you are invited to look at some parents pics of their kids on facebook, just put a wee message in the box below stating since the child is quite ugly, no self-respecting peadophile would touch it with a barge pole. You could add for effect: Indeed, if a peadophile did manage to get their hands on your child you should probably be a bit pleased because its probably the only action they're going to get.

I set up a small website with local info for the village.
Someone sent me old school pictures from 1923 to put on - some of the youngest in the pictures still live here.
Someone complained that school photos should not be put online because a paedophile might look at them!

I was quite at a loss how it would be a bad thing if a paedophile did look at a black and white picture of scowling brats who are now geriatric home residents but managed to send a polite response.

Something has got very messed up in this country regarding this subject. You're almost committing a crime if you look at a picture of a child online even if it's a school class picture?

School playgrounds maybe should be walled off with big boards in case anyone passing (well, anyone male) happens to glance at them playing.

Some mothers seem to have their brains removed when they give birth. Just look at the news the next time some kid gets shot with an air rifle, hit by a car, falls off of a swing, gets hit by a train when pissing about on the railway tracks...

They'll be starting up a new lobbying/campaign organisation along the lines of "Mothers against guns/air rifles/cars/swings/trains".

Its sad really, because actually 50% of the time the kid was acting stupidly to get themselves into the situation in the first place, and the other 50% of the time some bastard was misusing an object which otherwise would have caused no harm. The mothers never focus on the kid or the perpetrator of the said crime, they focus on the object. It drives me batty!

Here's a standard quote from the BBC for example: "The mother of the victim has called for a ban on all..." Confused

And let's not forget those idiotic family members who defend the actions of their offspring etc even though they were actually breaking the law when they were injured etc. That fucks me off royally. Flowers at the spot where joyriders were killed after a high speed chase across three counties. What? Simple, they refused to live within the law, so they chose to die outside of it. Are these "mommies" putting naked pictures of their kids on FB, or assume that a fully clothed six year old in a garden is a peado's wet dream?

I can understand being angry at family defending what they had done, but leaving flowers is totally unrelated as it doesn't mean they think they did something right or something. They are grieving ffs. They should be allowed to leave flowers or whatever.

"Simple, they refused to live within the law, so they chose to die outside of it."

If you or anyone else on here rides their bike faster than the speed limit then their family shouldn't be allowed to grieve for them if they make a mistake and crash, killing themselves according to your rules.

While I agree that the justice system is a joke in this country, there are worse things than stealing a car.

If it was your car, I imagine you'd be quite pleased they'd topped themselves while writing it off. I know I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

What annoys me most about these 'Mommies on a misson' is that many of them will be the type of council-chav-underclass scum that neglect or even abuse their kids, turning their children into scumbags who then cause the rest of us misery.

Paedophiles are a relatively rare creature when compared to numbers of criminally-bad parents out there.

It breaks my heart when you attend jobs and there's a little kid there, but you look at the slaggy parents and realised the child is doomed to a life of petty crime and causing others misery.

I don't disagree. But then driving it at ridiculous speeds running from the police because they refuse to accept responsibility for their actions and endangering the lives of god only knows how many other innocent and uninvolved people sucks pretty bad. I guarantee you the families of those people killed by joyriders or hit and runners don't think there's a worse crime than people who steal a car and recklessly drive at insane speeds, consequently killing their loved ones.

I do drive too fast, and no doubt I'll ride too fast when the time comes, but I do it in a car that's insured, roadworthy and most of all mine. And if I get pulled, I'll stop and hold my hands up to my indiscretion. I won't run away and I won't endander others by being wantonly reckless. Car thieves are scum. Fact.

It's all very typical over-reaction IMHO. I wonder how many of these vigilant single Mums are as careful when they go out, get completely drunk and pull some iffy bloke and drag him home, or end up dating a complete unknown from the t'internet dating sites? Rolling Eyes

Hey, like it has already been said 'what do I know, I don't have any kids?' Wink
