Ok, so, I recently passed my CBT and managed to get hold of a 1988 Suzuki GP100 with 8600 Miles on the clock for £250. All that was needed was new front and rear mudguards.
A few questions though....
1. How much smoke from the exhaust is the right amount. At first it was running rich, which was probably a good idea as the bike had been stood for about 14 years.
2. In what rev range do i need to be changing gears without causing damage. I'm guessing it's different for all bikes, but I'm pretty new to bikes.
3. Is it best to have the notches on the oil pump synchronized with the punch mark on the carb?
4. How will i know if the engine is becoming damaged, if I haven't got the right mixture?
Like I said, I'm a complete newb when it comes to bike engines and I'm just after a bit of advice so that I don't bugger up my first bike.
