So - I have a sv650 year 2000 and I like her a lot!

It's been time to replace chain and sprockets for a while - so today was the day. Browsed BCF for handy hint's and tip's before taking on the job.

Basically replaced front and back sprockets, new chain in place and bloody riveted finally. Knock it in first and nothing, no drive in my drive chain. I'm assuming the front sprocket is not on/in correctly.

Anyway it's late and dark - the wifes moaning about me not doing the washing up and I have an early flight to Edinburgh tomorrow.

I'm looking for any comments on what to keep my eyes open for when I get back to the bike on Thursday night.

Thanks in advance - John

You can't really get the sprocket wrong ... it is on splines it is much more likely that you have reassembled the clutch actuator mechanism incorrectly and the clutch is essentially constantly disengaged! Wink

Thanks for that pointer BlueSV - have you got anypoints on were I may have gone wrong.

I removed the clutch release mechanism - and replaced - is there a certain way in which it goes on - where if not correct it will keep releasing?

Try taking the actuator mechanism off totally, then slotting it into gear (engine off) and see if you can push the bike forward. If you can't i.e. it is in gear and you are pushing against the engine (that is not running), then there is nothing wrong with the chain.

There is a special way to set the mechanism up - if you have a manual, it will say in there - if you don't then google it ...

{click click click}

Here, the basic idea is to make sure the clutch actuator is set up correctly ... see pic ... you need to make sure the angle of that leaver is correct and that no pressure is on the pushrod behind that nut and bolt when the clutch leaver is out.

You can undo the locknut and adjust the angle/bite point by turning the bolt with a flat-head screwdriver Thumbs Up
