My chain appears to have a slack spot. Most of the way round, it is within the 25-35mm play but at one point its 45mm.

I've checked the stretch using the 20 links method and its just within standard tolerances and well within the serviceable limit.

Should I bin it or is it good for another 1000 miles yet?

Give it a really good scrub and free up the tight spots, lube it, or better yet, soak it in engine oil, should be good for 1k miles or so, remember to change sprockets at the same time.

TBH, if you think the chain is suspect, it's really not worth risking it. I know you probably want to get your moneys worth out of it - but it's a right bugger if it does snap when you're out and about, not to mention the potential for damage it could cause.
