first bike?

hello past my mod 1 got my mod 2 test soon but im finding it hard to pick a bike i want.. i am looking for a yamaha from my motocross backgroud yamaha was the only bikes that ran well so like to stick with them..

I have been looking at a r6 but now liking the yam thundercat seeing if anyone noes much about them good bikes or not..

also how long to engines last for on bikes what is the maximum mileage i should look for on a bike?

I passed test back end of last year and bought thundercat, great bike, only main recommendations i received were check downpipes as have tendency to rot (mine were ok till bottomed them on kerb - replaced with S/S for £160) an people often go on about 2nd gear problems, but myself and others on Thundercat forum haven't found to be as rife as often mentioned, mines a '97 and done 14000 miles, others on the site have done many more miles and don't report problems!

Good all rounder with manners when needed and grunt when wanted!! All the best with the hunt, oh and dependant on your size there much more comfy than R6 and can go all day without the aches and pains of most sports bikes about.
