Hey,

Im looking for some boots for around £100 for this sort of weather really so not that worried about them being completely waterproof or goretex or anything like that.

So far ive seen the A* Smx 4 which I really liked,

https://www.revzilla.com/product_images/0011/0732/Alpinestars_S-MX_4_Boots_Black_zoom.jpg

But not found much else. Anyone have any recommendations? Or any comments about the above boots?

Cheers Razz

Sidi boots are supposed to be good.
Can get some good deals on ebay if you know what size will fit you.

Theyre quite nice actually. Im more of a size 9 though unfortunately.

Also after some new boots. Got some used ones at the moment, so want a new pair that I can keep for a good few years.

Cool. What are they like when the weather gets colder?

And are they at all waterproof?

I've had a pair of SMX4 Waterproofs for almost 4 years now, they are indeed waterproof and decently comfortable, no holes in them yet and they've stood up the test of time almost perfectly, only thing I could fault them for is the velcro is rather weak, apparently that was mostly a problem with the WP ones though.

I've got some SMX-Rs (this year's model) that cost me £140 - there used to be loads of last year's model on eBay for £125 posted, not sure if there are still any.

Wouldn't buy a pair of second hand boots, ever. Someone else's sweaty feet been in there, plus don't like the idea of wearing someone else's stuff.

£100 will see you a decent boot.

I have the SMX-5s and like them a lot. Very comfy and easy enough to talk around in for a decent amount of time Wink

I bought a pair of SMX 4's for £100 from hien gerick after looking at a lot of boots, really wanted sidi black rains but I have wide feet and they were very narrow. I looked at the cheaper brands like spada but they were no match for the alpine stars.

I'm a 10.5 which is usually awkward but AStars UK 11 fits me well.

Used daily them for past 28 months, still going strong. Still look decent. I do polish them a couple of times a week though.

Great boots, the velcro's still holding up, which was my problem with other previous Alpine Star boots.

Would buy again. Would not consider another boot.

Oh, and I've lowsided in my SMX-Rs. Twice. Bit scratched but fine.
