Listen for cam chain rattle, valve clearances etc.
Slight clutch rattle is normal, but not at higher revs
Lots of younger people like myself have owned one, and this tends
to mean it may have been ragged.
Exhaust rot is common as the standard pipes are plain old steel
Check on v5 if its an import. (not very important but may have some effect on price) imports were restricted speedwise to around 110mph in the clocks, although people often remove this.
Make sure its not miss-firing when ticking over or while being ridden, they have rather fiddly/precise set up on carbs.
A better place to ask would be on the zxr owners club site:

Oil coolers rot where they join the radiator and end up being held on by TYraps,
headgaskets are weak on 89-94 models, look for a milky build up on the radiator cap.
Look for a dent on the RHS of the swingarm, if ther is one its been down the road.
Clutches rattle, pull the clutch in the rattle should stop. If it dosent its the camchain tensioner on its way.
They tend to be used for club racing and by younger riders so have been thrashed and badly maintained, but they are a fantastic bike and handle really well. ____________________ Quietly and consistently taking the piss.
