Was about to enter a roundabout when a guy in a fiat bravo pulled out of the left hand lane and straight in front of me, very helpful of him!

Bike is a bit of a mess, i'm a bit battered and bruised, but I will live to ride again Very Happy

Just heading to the hospital so I will put more details up later, paint diagram is added for BCF sake, Red line is where he was supposed to be going, green line is where he went, purple solid is where I went, purple dashed is where I was heading, blue square is the police car that saw the whole thing.

Also have two independent witnesses who say it was his fault.

As above, will update when I'm back from the hospital.

Poor show, not even a key to understand what is going on, 10/10 for the drawing, but it drops to a low 2/10 for no key or real explanation boxes on said diagram, you should be ashamed of yourself Evil or Very Mad Thumbs Down

You need to go to hospital so why did you not ask for an ambulance?
If an ambulance attends the police have to as well, there statement is worth its weight in gold in an insurance claim.

People, just lay on your back and groan FFS.

Welcome to the wonderful world of owning a motorcycle. Cars think that because they are bigger they own the road. Also the amount of people that dont understand roundabouts and lane discipline is unreal. Theres a few times I have been cut up by some twat in the wrong lane.

Good news is you will live to ride another day. Get statements from the dr you saw and any injuries suffered by yourself can be claimed against.

Just back from the hospital.

An ambulance was just around the corner when I was hit, the police flagged it over, I got really lucky with the police and ambulance. The adrenaline seemed to mask my injuries at the time hence going to the hospital when I got home.

Anyway, injuries aren't anything major, abrasion and bruise to right arm, abrasion to right knee. Left index finger dislocated but has popped back in, just soft tissue damage so no biggie. Neck is a little stiff so I'll have to wait and see if it gets any worse over the next few days.

Bike unfortunately didn't fair so well, the right hand side is scuffed completely so all plastics on the right will need replacing, my r/h crash bung snapped off, the front fairing cracked near the headlight and the front mudguard has a big deep gouge out of it. One of this disks is now grinding against something as the wheel turns, although the forks and wheel seem to be alright. Exhaust is scuffed on r/h end can.

There is some sort of unidentifiable red liquid all over the back end of the bike, neither myself or the police could see where it came from.

Also, the worst part is that the engine wont start and is making a pretty nasty noise when I press the button, it may be the starter motor but if it is then engine then the bike is almost certainly a right off.

Hope this all makes sense, I'm not really thinking all the strait at the moment, haven't eaten since yesterday lunchtime!

Off to the indian to show off my war wounds and get some grub in me!

Thanks for the well wishes and I will get pictures up when the police email them through to me Thumbs Up

P.S. If anybody knows the witnesses, if they happen to mention it or something, say a massive thank you, they were brilliant and lots and lots of help Thumbs Up

Yep, the general unwashed are generally fucks when it comes to driving, coming around a roundabout yesterday, some old bint was looking to join the roundabout, I cancelled right hand indicator, put left on and moved over to exit, old bint looks at me locks onto me with eye contact, then just rolls out into the roundabout with a look of "if I go slowly, he wont notice me moving" she almost clipped me.

Same with a lorry driver who saw me on the roundabout then set off slowly, making me stop on the roundabout.

Just have to remember something I learnt many years ago, everyone is out to kill you.

Out of interest with regards to renting a bike while mine is getting fixed, what do I do, do I need to speak to his insurers or do I just go ahead and rent one? I don't really want to pay out a bunch of money for a bike that I can't afford.

Also considering I have two independent witnesses in my favor and he has none, and also that his was given 3 points and £60 fine at the seen for tinted windows (forgot that bit in the original post) am I reasonably safe to assume it will go in my favor? Can't see how it wouldn't but could esure (his insurers) still kick up a fuss?

sorry to hear about the off, at least you got off relatively lightly! As for the red fluid the zzr has a coolant dump tube out the back round the number plate, could this be the cause?

Of course his insurers can/will try and wriggle out of paying.

There are various catches in long term vehicle hire against an accident where (*disclaimer* as I understand it, and I don't really know more than the following or in any depth) you can be liable for some/all of the charges yourself - and they don't make this very clear at all when your "free hire" bike turns up. So do the below before going ahead

You have informed your insurance company of the accident? You shoud tell them, but you don't have to use them to recover your losses... there are many specialist solicitors/firms in the bike press, or https://www.europaconsultants.co.uk/index.php regularly get fantastic reviews over on Pistonheads (the member to contact there is "anniesdad" IIRC)

Never assume.

You should probably go via a solicitor (i.e. no win no fee firm - preferably a reputable specialist in the type of incident), unless you know what you're doing. TBH, they're far more likely to be interested if you plan to persue a personal injury claim too, which is the unfortunate way things are.

Any other option is likely to end up in you getting screwed somewhat. The solicitors you contact can arrange you a hire bike very quickly if needed, and due to the abhorrent cost of them it tends to make the other side avoid dithering. Note: Make sure that you will not be liable for the hire bike if the other side is not able to be successfully sued.

Sorry to hear of your accident. Glad you are not too badly hurt..

I'd definately recommend using a private solicitor / claims company such as www.sorrymate.com, who I used when I got hit.

They sort the whole lot out for you, including hire bikes etc.

Thumbs Up

Turns out I get legal cover on my insurance which is helpful, unfortunately the bike rental place wont loan me a bike until they get confirmation that it was the other guys fault so I may be on public transport until next tuesday Evil or Very Mad

Must have told the same details to half a dozen people now too Laughing

Finger seems to be getting worse which is a bit annoying.

Also, no pics yet.
