I rode one before deciding to go for the Hornet, it may have been a 620 in fact. A tiny, cramped, gutless thing. The ER5 I learnt on actually seemed to have more go. ____________________ Triumph Daytona 675 track bike + girlfriend's Honda Hornet 600

Own one before talking rubbish. Yes the 600 isn't built for power, if you want power buy an S2R/S4R or maybe 900/1000.
Older ones have small electrical faults the fuel injected ones are fine. The main thing for servicing is the belts need to be done every 12000 miles or 2 years which ever comes first ____________________ Bikes : 2006 CBR125R - 2004 Monster 620ie - 2004 ZX-6R B1H - 2005 Monster S2R 800 - 2011 Street Triple - 2009 Streetfighter 1098 - 2014 ZX-6R 636

I didn't say they were fast, they are slow and I admit it but for someone who has just passed it's fine.
As for faults I haven't had any ____________________ Bikes : 2006 CBR125R - 2004 Monster 620ie - 2004 ZX-6R B1H - 2005 Monster S2R 800 - 2011 Street Triple - 2009 Streetfighter 1098 - 2014 ZX-6R 636

So basically what I said then yeah?
I have owned one, well sort of, my flat mate did, we used each others bikes all the time, he used mine more though .
The OP Wasn't talking about an s2r/s4r or a 900. He was asking after the 90's 600 monnie, which is as I described it.
The main problem with them is other than having the Ducati Badge and looking tasty, most other middle weight 600 do everything better.
Edit,
In fact have you ever owned a 600 monster, I'm not talking about a newer 620 monster but a mid to lates 90's 600. Like the OP asked about. Maybe you should own one before getting on your high horse. ____________________ Well, you know what they say. If you want to save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs.

WANTED:- Fujinon (Fuji) M42 (Screw on) lenses, let me know if you have anything.

The Speed four is a good bike, the only reason I didn't get one was because I couldn't afford it
The thing is Monsters come with some decent kit as standard. Mine has Brembo brakes, braided lines and a slipper clutch. Apart from power they're no that shit but they are also not the best. Personally I like them and if I had the money I'd get the 796 or 1100 (obviously different kettle of fish) ____________________ Bikes : 2006 CBR125R - 2004 Monster 620ie - 2004 ZX-6R B1H - 2005 Monster S2R 800 - 2011 Street Triple - 2009 Streetfighter 1098 - 2014 ZX-6R 636

I think it depends on what you want to do with a bike.
I love the fact that on an IL4 you can bang it in top at 30mph, and still be able to ride sensibly, without having to constantly use the box to find a suitable gear. I dont enjoy riding bikes where you need to change gear if your speed varies more than 4-5mph (eg twins/triples).
Maybe I'm lazy, but an IL4 does everything I want.
30mph in top with usable power. Check.
180mph in top. Check.
100-150mph in top (without changing gear) few seconds? Check.
I thought that I'd like to try something else, but buying the blade has made me realise that the Jap's (and their IL4's) do things very, very well.
'Character' is now something I can remove from my list when looking for a new bike, . ____________________ TS50 > Senda 125 > ZXR400 > CB-1 > GSX-R1000 > Bandit 600 > ZXR750 H1 > GSX-R750 SRAD > '98 RR-W Fireblade > T595 Daytona > Hornet 900 > '04 Fireblade > GSX-S1000F (x2) > '23 XSR900 |

Well hopefully when I get a ZX6 I'll like an IL4 as much as you ____________________ Bikes : 2006 CBR125R - 2004 Monster 620ie - 2004 ZX-6R B1H - 2005 Monster S2R 800 - 2011 Street Triple - 2009 Streetfighter 1098 - 2014 ZX-6R 636

Unfortunately he's talking more of an Inline 4 1000cc bike - I suspect he wouldn't have too far off the experience (apart from having to maintain the awful farting ) with a 1200cc twin - though actually, I believe they are still fairly lumpy low down, which would spoil it.
Saying that, going from a monster to a ZX6 should be a reasonable step up . |
